Legendz Diner in Golden, BC, has long been a cherished pit stop for our family during our annual summer trips to Lake Shuswap. For the past decade, we’ve enjoyed hearty, rustic diner fare that perfectly suited our needs as road-weary travelers. However, on our most recent visit, it became painfully clear that the diner has undergone a significant decline in both food quality and service.
Upon arrival, we noticed a stark difference from our previous experiences. The diner, once bustling with charm and warmth, now felt neglected. The staff appeared unkempt, with stained aprons that did little to inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the establishment. Service was sluggish and inattentive, which only added to our growing disappointment.
As for the food, it was a far cry from the hearty meals we had come to expect. The sausages were shriveled and seemed as though they had been reheated from a previous day’s batch. The bacon was overcooked to the point of being unrecognizable, while the scrambled eggs were bland and uninspired. The hash browns were soggy and lacked any semblance of freshness. To top it all off, the coffee tasted like dishwater—an unfortunate reality for any diner experience.
It’s disheartening to think that we will need to find a new stop on our yearly journey. The Legendz Diner we once loved has become a shadow of its former self. While change is often inevitable in the restaurant business, it’s disappointing when it leads to a decline in quality and service. We will certainly miss our old favorite but are hopeful that we can discover another diner that meets our expectations on future trips.
Our first visit was amazing! Food and service by Grace was outstanding! Then we came back next morning with more family.......our waitress was terrible! NOT Grace! This new on was Rude, no time to look at menu, abrupt and unfriendly. Actually slammed plates onto our table!!! Strongly suggest you replace this waitress, strongly advise you give Grace a raise!!! Will definitely return for the food and atmosphere, but will promptly leave if we have that second older waitress again! Thanks Grace, made our trip great! The restaurant has signs that it was once amazing, but no longer. The inside atmosphere was horrible. The music was radio, no 60s. The booths were tight, not much room. There was no neon lights on the restaurant side and there should be a ton more on the walls. I won't be back ever again. I can't recommend it

I've eaten at this place numerous times while passing through Golden over the past decade +, but not much recently until yesterday. ( my travels don't take me there much lately) We should have taken a clue from the lack of vehicles in front of a previously bustling location. I might be wrong, but it looks like it might have new ownership? The place needs a good thorough scrubbing. Everything looked grubby. I ordered a Ruben, my partner ordered a Clubhouse. Pretty standard stuff. I should have been alerted by the pop bottle cap on the ketchup bottle. Something was 'off'. My Ruben didn't taste right. First, it was made with mayo instead of mustard. The sauerkraut was chunky and sparse. They used cheap white processed cheese instead of Swiss. The fries were tasteless and mealy. My partner's clubhouse wasn't good either. Cheap bread and tasteless. Both of us went in hungry and left hungry as most of our food went uneaten. Neither of us are fussy eaters and it's rare to leave food on a plate. I'm glad I didn't eat it all too as something didn't sit right. Maybe they need a visit from the health inspector? Something has definitely gone wrong here over the past year or 2.

4 bucks for a coffee to go and the impression I got was extremely unwelcome, like pouring a coffee for me was an insult and an outrage. The bathrooms were filthy and I could smell bad things from the kitchen. Not at all what legends used to be.

Worst meal I have ever had to pay for. Was dry meat on a dry bun. The service was not good either. There is other places that are more worth your money and time.
Food was okay, service was really terrible, atmosphere is decorated pretty good but isn't clean. Definitely will not visit again.

We stopped here on a whim for dinner on our way out to Victoria. Wasn't sure what we were in for, but it was definitely worth the stop! The atmosphere was that of an old 1950's diner,right down to the pictures on the walls. The food was great and worth every penny spent.
Wheelchair accessibility: Although they say it's wheelchair accessible, it's really cramped especially in the washroom if you actually have a wheelchair. If you simply have a cane, or walker it's easier to navigate.
