The location of the hotel is definitely a plus—peaceful and close to nature—and the room itself was decent, though it lacked air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable in warm weather.
Unfortunately, the check-in experience was frustrating. The reception closes at 7 PM, which is not clearly communicated. When I arrived after that time, there were no instructions provided on how to get inside or where to find my room key. The entrance door required a code I never received. I had to knock repeatedly until another guest helped me get in. This kind of stress on arrival is unacceptable, especially at this price point.
Breakfast was also very disappointing. It was advertised as included, but what was provided was extremely minimal—definitely not up to the standard you’d expect for paying around CAD 500 per night. I even saw a guest bringing their own eggs and cream cheese, which says a lot about what was missing.
Overall, this hotel has potential with its location and quiet atmosphere, but the lack of proper communication, poor breakfast offering, and absence of basic amenities like air conditioning made the stay underwhelming.
Comfortable and clean rooms. Well serviced in a great location.
Great Place !. Super close to the mountain so it is basically a ski in and ski out.. Staff is super helpful and do their very best to make sure the guests needs at met.. Everything is diligently maintained and the rooms are cleaned.. We stayed for 3 nights and would stay again.. The common areas are intimate and relaxing.. The lodge can be social but also private if you wish
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Winston Lodge, it is conveniently located close to the ski resort and has all of the amenities that you could wish for including the Sauna and hot tub. Rowan, Tessa and the rest of the team were most helpful during the stay
Winston House is the spot. Rad Lodge with great staff. The entry is a disconnect from the rest of the experience. So easy to fix with some proper lighting (not cold LED) and a front desk that looks a little more thoughtful vis-a vi the rest of the lodge. Bkfast bar perhaps a little too basic albeit charming. Give Tessa a raise. She deserves it : )
Self-service gem with an easy walk to the Gondola.
Hot tub and sauna are clean and nice. There's a limited cont. breakfast, enough to get you going for the day. Staff aren't overbearing, but available when needed.
If you have to go to Kicking Horse, this is a great place to stay. Personally I prefer ski mountains which keep their gondolas attached to the drive-line. RCR is ruining the mountain.
Loved our stay here! Staff was very helpful and it felt like a home away from home
We had a great weeks stay at Winston Lodge Kicking Horse, lovely room, great Sauna and Jacuzzi, the staff were great, very friendly and efficient, the bar and Restaurant was fantastic, great food and great service.
The Hotel is small and cosy with log fires in the main lounge, its about 250 metres from the Golden Eagle Express Gondola, so an easy walk, even with skis.
They have a great boot room for ski and board storage with boot heaters which are a game changer.
I can't speak highly enough of the Winston and all its staff and management, give it a try you wont be disappointed.

The past three days at Winston Lodge have been absolutely wonderful! From the warm welcome to the incredibly comfortable beds and the cozy ski area, everything was perfect. But what truly made our stay special were the people, they go above and beyond to create a welcoming, home-like atmosphere with a cozy vibe and a hearth. We felt right at home and can’t wait to come back!
Aside from a great name the Winston Lodge is a great place to spend a ski holiday.
I stayed here with my wife and a few friends over the Christmas holidays and we had a great time.
Short walk to the ski lifts with a fantastic large gear room for drying ski gear. Amazing sauna and hot tub with an incredible ambiance.
Would highly recommend and I would rebook here without hesitation.

Enjoyed our stay, very convenient for our first time at Kicking Horse. The boots warmer is a nice touch! Breakfast bar was great to have free water, juice and food. Private hot tub in the loft was amazing.
Minor criticism is the smaller TV in the deluxe loft is hard to see from the couch. Also the milk has a 3 month old best before date that was a little off putting (was completely safe to drink, but made me feel uneasy)

Highly recommended The Winston Lodge for a ski vacation or a relaxing mountain getaway. The whole lodge is recently renovated and has an inviting and cozy appearance. After a day skiing, the hot tub and sauna are the perfect way to relax and recharge. Location-wise, it’s just a quick 6-minute walk to the gondola and the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming.
The bistro is offering outstanding food with excellent price-to-quality value. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, making it a great spot for dinner or evening hangout.

Nice area, Great place, BAD/POOR Management, *BEWARE* The Lodge Manager likes to creep on you while your in the Hot Tub through his phone.
NO coin LAUNDRY accommodation for guest which sucks if you're sking alot or hiking and nowhere close by to do laundry. During the summer, The BAR IS ALWAYS CLOSED, CANT EVEN GET A BEER AFTER MY HIKE or after A long Trip From Driving👎
We had a great experience at Winston Lodge!
Reservations and communication prior to arrival were excellent. Rowan, the general manager, was one of the most friendly and helpful hotel people we’ve ever met.
It’s a ski resort in a cozy setting next to a big resort with chair lift and gondola. Our room was spacious, bath up to expectations and the new outside hot tub got used every night.
The bed was good for this old guy with a bad back. The light breakfast had multiple options along with coffee and tea. We’ve stayed in three nice places while on this Banff area trip and Winston is our favorite!
