Shady Rest Fish & Chips

Been in Kelowna for 5 years, never heard of this place. Was driving by and decided to stop in. Was not disappointed. Amazing crispy fish, great staff, very cool spot with a lot of kelowna history. Highly recommend.

Excellent Halibut and chips - wrapped in newspaper just like when I was a kid! The price is great too! Shady Rest has become our Sunday dinner tradition since moving to Kelowna. Great place, friendly staff and timely preparation. The coleslaw is delicious as well! Thank you Shady Rest.

The fish and chips were delicious. Some of the best I have ever had. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative is the building is old and grimy. There isn't much space to sit down and eat. Takeout is the way to go.

This place has been here forever, so I was a tiny bit skeptical. I was very pleasantly surprised. Excellent fish and chips. Batter was tasty and crisp. Fish was tasty.Fries were real potatoes and cooked perfectly. Quaint atmosphere in a cool spot beside Mill creek. Worth a visit.

I was very disappointed with this business. I had been told by many people that this is the best fish and chips in Kelowna, that it is a local gem! But when I finally tried it for the first time, it was nothing like what I was expecting. The staff were loudly arguing with eachother right infront of myself and other customers, making it an awkward wait for our food. Once we did get the food, the newspaper it was packaged in was slimey with grease, and the fish was soggy and bland. The chips tasted undercooked on the inside, dry and chewy, while the outside was shriveled and completely unseasoned! Had to through away most of it since after the first few bites we felt sick to our stomachs due to the amount of grease we were consuming.

Last night was my first time eating at Shady Rest Fish & Chips and it sure won’t be the last time. EXCELLENT in Every way. The fish and Chips were cooked perfectly and their COLESLAW is the BEST I have ever eaten. 5- STARS and 2- THUMBSUP 👍👍. THANK YOU FOR A DINNER THAT WAS SUPERB.

Another favorite little spot of ours for fish and chips the best in town I think the atmosphere is great in the sense it's simple clean and pleasant staff top it off

Small little spot , great fish and chips, I love the used book store next door. It's small and cozy inside, they have free newspapers to read, it's a time capsule and I take my kids and grandpa there❤️
