Damp cloth used to wipe the metal tip of the milk frother after each cappuccino cup was made was kept on top of the machine without rinsing. The cup used to froth the milk was t rinsed after used either. Should actually be washed to avoid settling in of bacteria from the milk. Food Safe should be practiced better. Sorry. But it going back to server didn’t even say anything as we were leaving after we had our sit in coffee and n tea with Nanaimo bar and lemon square.

The first two visits, I was wowed by the coffee here. Brought friends to wow them. But on a recent visit, the coffee wasn’t as good. Apparently they’ve changed their supplier. No wow now.

I like this new coffee shop and our walking group has stopped in a few times after walking the Stocking Creek trail. But we may not be going back because they don't sell drip coffee. Last time I was not even warned that they only sell Espresso so served me an Americano, which I found to be very bitter, even with lots of cream added. If I had been warned I would have ordered maybe a latte. But I prefer drip coffee, as do several in our walking group. I wanted to contact the Coffee Shack to give them feedback but they don't seem to have a website or email address.I have upped my review to 4 stars. My only concern was no drip coffee, and I was not warned that I would be served an Americano instead. Maybe they have a good reason for not serving drip coffee so that's their prerogative. But the Morning Glory muffin I had was fantastic. And it was nice to sit out back in the shade.

Disappointed in the food and service. There were no plant based breakfast options, so we settled on two day-old(but not advertised as day-old) vegetarian breakfast sandwiches at $8.00 a pop, and after taking a bite of one and it tasting off-realizing that it had old and browned avocado that had to be returned. The employee was hesitant to make the return, offering other (non vegetarian) items in exchange. At last, she made one awkward phone call to the manager/owner, and finally returned our money(most of it anyway--we were shortchanged)To the owners, a few suggestions:-Being more welcome to those who are new to your café, and to those who may struggle with your selection and product quality.-Consider offering more variety as many potential customers come in with food restrictions and preferences in this day and age.-Sell day-olds at a discount (ideally not with avocado as it browns and turns in flavour quite quickly) and offer fresh sandwiches at full price.*Update:For readers who have dietary restrictions or preferences, I would pass on this Café. I would instead recommend Plantitude or Wild Poppy Market just a few minutes up the road in Ladysmith, or the many options in nearby Duncan (Garage Bakery, Fishbowl Café, Urban Forest Bistro, etc.). All of these places have excellent, fresh food with a friendly atmosphere.

Stopped by w/family after a nearby hike. We had high hopes for this cute looking cafe but were treated very rudely by staff-like they had better things to do. Baked goods were stale, coffee was mediocre. 100% will not be returning.

Great coffee and just a short way off the main road, just what we wanted.

Stopped in for coffee and a muffin because the place is attractive and convenient as there are few amenities in the area. The barista was on the phone while supposedly multitasking; the wait on my coffee seemed longer than necessary. The acoustics on the building are unfortunately jarring, and some sound dampening would be a great improvement.

Brilliant baking, and beautifully done inside. Love the atmosphere and home baking. Been there several times with my husband and girl friends, but really your service was not that helpful and friendly. We wanted cups not paper cups and plastic tops which we don’t like to drink from. I told you it was NOT takeout. When I mentioned this your answer was you order the small flat white and Mocha, that is why we gave you the take away version of cups, what difference does that make. You saw me get my Starbucks cup and poured my coffee into that after you yourself struggled to open the top off. Would it have not have been more helpful to give me a proper cup/mug. Hope you were not the owner as that was poor service. I am sorry to write this review as we love this establishment and come from Nanaimo to enjoy your little darling coffee shack. So next time maybe be more open and ask.Parking: Lots of parking, attractive spot.

Stopped by for a quick coffee off of the Cowichan Trail. Very new and staff were very friendly. Meticulously clean, inside and outside seating available, we even got water for the dogs with a smile ! We will be back to sample their food. Coffee was excellent.

Great coffee. Took one of the coffees advised by the barista. The foam is like velvet. Great rich taste. Definitely worth the visit!
