Have been coming here since it opened in, I believe, the 90s. The service was a little slower than previous visits.

I'd give 10 stars if I could!

I noticed this cafe was newly added to door dash. I had low expectations ordering eggs for delivery but I was blown away. Perfect easy over eggs, hashbrowns that were very well spiced & good quality hollandaise sauce. 👏

I’m from Vancouver, and was visiting for the weekend, everything here was incredible! The server was so wonderful, and the brunch was wayyy better than the brunch we had last week at the boathouse 10/10 recommend

This place is a joke. The coffee is terrible. Watery and weak. I sent it back which is something I've never done or even considered before.
The grilled cheese special for $14.99 was two pieces of bread with two cheddar cheese slices and a tiny bit of shredded white cheese. The split pea and ham soup was watery, with no ham. See photo.
The chicken & waffles breakfast - the chicken pattie was a flat piece of breaded overcooked chicken. The waffle was good but came with no butter. I had to get up and ask for syrup after trying, and failing, to catch our servers attention.
For the senior's breakfast, the poached egg was served in a ramikan and did not slide out but it was cooked to medium as ordered.
The two servers behind the counter were either talking to each other or checking their phones. Then one of them put an empty box on top of the other one's head. Yes, this really happened. Neither came to clear our dishes away once we were finished.

It's sad to see this happening as The Wooden Nickel was a much loved restaurant for years. *New owners after April 2024*

Great food, fast & friendly service and usually lots of room to park. The Wooden Nickely Cafe is definitely a great spot in Lake Country I would recommend.

Casadia was OK, but beef patie with fries was lacking in size and quality

This place use to be a cute little cafe but this time around it wasn't the same experience unfortunately, it was a 10 minute wait on saying for drinks, atfer that it was a longer wait to order our food in the mean time our server was on her phone, and avoiding her other tables the only way I got our order was by looking at her but three times she smiled and didn't even make an effort to come over or talk to other tables, she was stand offish, the food was great get sizing and tasted great my other complaint is the fact we didn't get checked up on once, I had to walk up and grab my own ketchup from a different table, the other waitress was doing every table and taking care of customers properly, thank you to her but to the other girl learn work ethic and learn to do your job if I were to go back it would be for take-out so I don't have wait what felt like a hundred years.

New owners have replaced most of the homemade items with frozen. No longer a special place or meal.

Came here for take out sourdough or cinnamon buns. They said they only have the buns and not bread. They were $6.99 each- expensive but I thought worth it if fresh. Brought them home and they were STALE. Definitely not made same day. Very disappointing for an obviously expensive product.

The girl serving was very polite though. And the cafe is clean and modern.

Paid $6.99 each for cinnamon buns via takeout. Got them home and they were so stale. Even warmed up they were inedible and went straight in the garage. So disappointing compared to what used to be served here.

Watery coffee, canned mushrooms. If your coffee gets better, I'll be a fan. Forget canned mushrooms, IGA has fresh, is close.
