Doris' European Delicacies

I visited this place twice. First time was great. Lady behind the counter was super nice. Answered my questions, made me a sandwich. The meat was sliced thinly with a lot of ham and the sandwich was made very well. It was crispy and the cheese was melted. I really enjoyed it. It was my first visit and I planned to go back.

The second visit had a male behind the counter. I walked in and asked about sandwiches, he turned to me with an angry look and threw down his towel on the counter. There were no other customers there and this was not long after opening. He was standing behind the counter and gave me a glare as if I was inconveniencing him. I asked about the mustard (the previous lady mentioned there was a specific mustard she was using) and he snapped at me that there is only one mustard. He made my sandwich and I kind of hightailed outta there. The sandwich was not done well. I could tell he just wanted to get it over with and cut the meat super thick, barely pressed it so it wasn’t crispy and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. When I ate it, the meat was not pleasant, so I opened the sandwich to take it out, but then I found two different hairs in the sandwich. One white and one black. I threw away the sandwich at that point.

I’m really bummed about this bc I thought I found a new place for a quick lunch. I was planning to be a regular customer.

That guy honestly should have no business dealing with customers directly. If he’s an owner, maybe stick to the business aspect and let the others focus on the storefront. Rude and doesn’t care about customers. The very First Lady was wonderful though. I’m not very chatty myself, but she was such a sweetheart and pleasant to talk to. Sadly, I will not be returning after this last visit.

Edit: The owner responded to my review and I’m adding this edit to directly respond to the owner. If something isn’t working, you fix it. You don’t tell people that you prefer to be called instead of having a bad review of an honest experience. If that was the case, then you would address the complaints and fix the problem. There are multiple reviews of the guy’s behavior and mistreatment of customers. He’s still working there and still mistreating customers. If you don’t want an honest review detailing how badly they were treated, you have someone else take over dealing with customers instead of him. I assume he is a co owner or related to you in some way, but it does not make it okay. Being bipolar doesn’t make it okay to treat others badly either. It is never okay. My review will stay because reviews are meant to share honest experiences with business, so future customers are aware of what to expect. What they can expect is a grumpy man that doesn’t want to serve customers and an owner that is unwilling to fix the problem.

This is my fav place in the Canadian world to buy all my Europe favs…..chocolates- sausages- sauces -noodles - teas and jams - they have the best selection and Adam zing goodies during holiday season 😇🙏🏼💖

I stopped by Doris’ European Delicacies and was immediately greeted by the friendliest lady, who made the experience even better. She took the time to chat and made me feel right at home. The sandwich I ordered was not only incredibly delicious but also super filling—packed with fresh, high-quality ingredients and full of flavor. You can tell they put care into everything they make. If you’re looking for authentic European delicacies and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be coming back.

I shoppe at Doris deli some time when I drive to Langley always leave a considerable amount of money ( the customer are your pay check )and if it was not for customers your store would have to close I’m not happy with the service the person (man ) serving is very rude he is not knowledge enough in the merchandise that are being sold
There are not enough German food Delis around that is very sad , if you want to stay in business please put some one else in you store to serve customers the lady owner is very nice and pleasant please put her back to serve the customers

Great euro deli….support this wonderful store.

Rather rude elderly gentleman behind the counter.
Young boy requested some kind of pretzel.
Older guy says no, then how many.
7, sir’
Old guy says no again and asks young man what kind of pretzels.
Kid answers and old guy walks toward freezer, hauls out a bag, tells the kid to sprinkle water on them.
Feeling intimidated, the kid humbly walks to the counter, hands the old guy a $20 bill and with his head down walks out of the store.
Not how you treat new customers.

Turns to me and asks what I want.
“Smoked horse meat”
The old guys jaw drops and exclaims his wife would shoot me if she was here.
“Why”, I asked.
She loves horses and would kick you out of the store.
He says this as he’s leaning over a cooler full of meat products.
Told him, “I’m serious, we love thinly shaved slices of smoked horse meat”
The old guy flips out and off I go.
What a hipocrite.
That’s definitely not the way to treat customers.
He needs to be retired out to pasture for his bad grumpy attitude.

The nice lady here made me a fresh warm Reuben sandwich. They were out of rye bread so she offered to put it on sourdough, which I thought made it even better! Very friendly. Delicious food and a huge variety of products. Love coming here on occasion when I’m in the area and craving some lunch that isn’t “fast food”.

This was bought this weekend. You are hurting your business.

You replied to the previous comment that on European products BB it is day, month, year. So it will be necessary to throw it away in 2008?

don’t expect to bring a stoller in there and not get accused of stealing. Very rude. Stared myself and my family down till we left and I was clearly just looking at the deli meats.

Love this place & the owner. Great services. Will definitely come back again.
