Dr. MacKenzie and staff are compassionate people. They make your experience of bringing your fur baby in for medical evaluations bearable. They are kind and considerate.

It’s been seven months and I finally am able to face writing this review. My cat was elderly and suffering from chronic kidney disease. We had recently moved from out of town and didn’t have a vet so one morning when I noticed blood in my cat’s urine I had to call around to any and every vet I could to try to get her in to see someone immediately. Dr McKenzie came through. He took blood samples and urine samples and got my cat started on antibiotics right away. So far so good. Unfortunately the antibiotic that was given was Baytril. I know now (and I wish I had done my research before giving my cat Baytril) that Baytril should never be given to cats with kidney disease. There are all kinds of message boards online full of people blaming Baytril for their animals’ deaths - dogs and cats. And it turned out when her blood work and urine sample results came back that she didn’t have an infection to begin with, making it all the more tragic that she was given a drug she should never have been given in the first place. The effects of Baytril were gruesome. My cat was clearly suffering and on the advice of Dr McKenzie we stopped giving it to her after four days. Unfortunately the damage had already been done. She did seem to recover and rally for a few days after Baytril was stopped, but then she went downhill very quickly and was obviously suffering too much so the terrible decision was made to end her suffering. My cat was elderly and in poor health to begin with, but Baytril destroyed whatever was left of her kidney function and surely hastened her death and caused her much suffering. Please please please do not ever administer any drugs to your pet without doing your own research on them first - even if a vet gives them to you.I wrote an email to Dr McKenzie informing him that I had taken my cat to an after hours clinic to be put down and that I blamed the Baytril he gave her for her demise and, to add insult to injury , I got a sympathy card in the mail in response. When a person is grieving a deep loss, the last thing they need is an insincere sympathy card from the people who contributed to that loss. All vet clinics need to rethink this practice, in my opinion.

We have taken our new chocolate lab puppy to Dr McKenzie. We have had a few visits as a result of our initial checkup shots etc. We never feel rushed like there's a lineup of patients behind us. Dr Mackenzie always has time to talk and answer a questions and he is so good with our dog Ziggy. I would highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

I work with a lot of pets myself yet I must say there is something to be said about a vet clinic when a pet is so very excited to be there that they pull you in in anticipation to say hello! I brought a client pet in for his visit and to my surprise, this client dog was leading the way and rushed to the counter to greet the staff. We then had our turn in the exam room where things needed further investigation and the dog was still so happy with all the positive reinforcement. He was rewarded so well for everything he put up with being poked and prodded. And nothing seem to discourage this dog. This visit was such a pleasure.

All of the staff there are beyond exceptional and very knowledgeable. They are quick to reassure both the owner and the pet and walk you through any and all procedures. We recently switched to this veterinary clinic and I am so grateful to have found them. I will never go to another veterinarian clinic as long as I have pets!!!
