We sat on the patio, the view was breath taking. We had arrived on Mayne Island a few hours prior from Vancouver. I ordered chicken fingers and fries, my friend order the calamari salad. She gave her salad a 4 out of 5. Unfortunately I have mine a 2. The fingers did not look appetising at all and had very little flavor. What really gave this bistro a low rating was our waiter. The couple that came in after us and a woman that came after them all got their food before us. When we inquired we were met with defensiveness and condescension. We wanted to have our feelings heard and respected. Fortunately when we spoke to the manager she heard us. She ended up giving us our meal for free!

Wonderful experience and views at Bennett Bay Bistro! They have a large patio that over looks the bay. Server was super friendly and attentive. Portions are very generous and reasonably priced - I ordered the salmon burger which had a large piece of salmon.

Though I am not on Facebook, it doesn’t take long for word to travel on a small close knit island. Especially very sad news. I just learned today that the people who have been running the Bennett Bay Bistro for the past 13.5 years, the ones who have always reached out to help the community in so many ways when others were having hard times, have been asked to hand in their keys in a months time without explanation. Weddings have been booked & other special occasions as well…& now the clients will have to be told of the closing. It’s a lose, lose situation for all of us.

Stayed there for a couple of days and hardly enjoyed any meal. It's sad to see something with such potential dishing food without much thought put into it. Drinks weren't good either. I really feel bad writing this, but it's just sad dining there with nothing memorable. It's one of those places where you have to go because nothing else is open, and even then, you feel disappointed eating as nothing else is open.

Had high hopes, but the food was overall pretty underwhelming. The halibut was especially disappointing—dry, lacking any real flavor, and definitely not what you’d expect for the price. The atmosphere and menu felt more like a basic pub than a proper restaurant. Not terrible, but not something I’d go out of my way to recommend either
Great meal, great view, ok price. The kids loved the poutine. Happy kids happy life right? The tuna bowl was definitely worth it.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was incredible—we had the burgers, and they were simply exceptional, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. And the view from the dining area? Absolutely breathtaking. This place has it all: great food, friendly vibes, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Highly recommended!
