What a sweet, welcoming place when rain and a chill in the air greeted us in Nelson. We travel nearly everywhere with our little guy (14 lb Shorkie) and Amanda’s could not have been more accommodating. My wife wanted a chicken sandwich, my son a burger, and both were cooked to perfection. I was more in the mood for Chinese and my Chow Mein was perfect as well, taking me back to a time when Cantonese style was the prevailing cuisine. Back then, it wasn’t about heat, it was about subtlety, and Amanda’s totally captured it. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in Nelson.

Amanda’s has been a Nelson institution for many years, just across the Big Red Bridge (BOB.) They recently moved into the downtown area which makes them much more accessible. Although the menu is typically Canadian Chinese with both western and Asian dishes, the food is always good quality and relatively oil and msg free. If you like lots of fresh vegetables and a variety of protein try the House Special Chop Suey.
