Excellent cafe! With tasty food offerings and a comfortable atmosphere. The coffee at John Ward is the best in Nelson hands down and I always make sure to stop in here atleast once while I am visiting Nelson.

Normally I love this place but I paid over $7 for the smallest most mediocre tasting breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had it looked like they gave me maybe half a slice of bread
Ginger cookie tasted old and like whoever baked it had strong cheap men's cologne on their hands. Who wants to eat men's cologne?
If you’re used to getting a yummy chai latte- don’t recommend getting one here. Was told that their chai had enough spice and flavor and was sadly very disappointed as it was very bland. Also got the croissant breakfast sandwich and it was ok, very basic with just ham, cheese and tomato. Would have loved to see a dairy free option as I had to peel my cheese off and pass it off to my partner, some pesto or sauce would have added that extra bit of elevation to something so plain.

Nice, less busy alternative to Oso Negro, coffee is pretty comparable.

Coffee was good but the breakfast sandwich was not - the egg omelette was cold and watery, really bad. The coffee icing on the brownie was super sugary.

Interior vibes are fantastic, lovely clean but cozy feel, outdoor seating is on Nelson’s Baker Street, providing a lively atmosphere and a great place to do some work or chat with a friend. Coffee is good, and the matcha white chocolate cookie is delicious Overall 10/10

Amazing vibe, great coffee and yummy sandwiches this place has it all
Open early for breakfast before heli flight to Kokanee lodge.
Great team, great service, great coffee.
Local favourite!
I enjoyed a delicious Americano this morning, alongside a fresh blueberry scone that was still warm from the oven- All this with the sun on my face from a great street-corner location. The cafe staff were kind and friendly, the space is bright, clean and inviting. Recommended place to frequent!
Terrible coffee. You should be ashamed. The coffee was burnt. I got x2 espresso lattes and both were binned. It would be great if the people trained to make coffee at this place spent more time focusing on the art form than being distracted in personal conversations with colleagues. I was told this was one of the better coffee places and paid top dollar. For a latte I could compare to an automated machine at 7eleven! If you're looking for real coffee that is made with care go to No.6 they are the only coffee place in town that have mastered the art form and actually carefully craft each cup with precision. There is a benchmark set for quality coffee. Unfortunately having the decor, the expensive machine and price tag isn't going to cut it. Have some heart ♥️ and please for the love of your community start making coffee with care! Especially when you are expecting customers to pay.
