You can’t go wrong with this place, the food is always consistent and that is why the new west community always comes back

Havent been to this place since I was a teenager and it definitely lives up to the positive memories.
Great lunch combos with huge portions that are big enough to share, or save for later. The vegetarian potstickers and black bean spareribs were a a standout.

Ordered the satay beef with crispy noodles. They forgot the sauce so I received stone hard noodles.

Ordered take out which includes 5 dishes for $70 dollars but …
everything tasted like crap.
Fried rice had hardly mo shrimp and was dry as hell
Beef chow mein: I asked for the sauce to be in a separate container but they put it all in one container and it had no flavour or taste and was drier than the fried rice.
Wonton soup: wonton when I ate it I can feel the wonton skin was hard and harder to eat
Price is right but everything else is wrong

The food here has always been good. The service has always been excellent. Prices, however, have gone up and serving sizes have come down. I guess the economy is affecting us all. Still one of our go to's.

It's a really good Chinese restaurant. We go there for late lunch on Saturday. I don't know what to order. I see the chicken with broccoli chow mein looking good on my next table. So I just tell the staff I want this one on the other table. She tells me that the one I want has lunch special. It's a good deal. It costs only $14.95 for it. Thank you for the friendly and helpful staff.
Since we are too hungry, I forget to take pictures.
I also order one veggies stream dumpling and congee. The dumplings are so good and fresh. It's even better than the big dim sum restaurants in Vancouver.
I will come back for it soon.
I can only take some pictures outside the restaurant. The food are just as good as the pictures showing there.

It's not fine dining, but it has the taste that will make me keep going back.
I've been going to this place for years. It used to be a Hons. Same food and taste. I would highly recommend
My family and I have been frequenting Han Lin – formerly known as Hon’s – since before I was even born. This place has become part of my family’s story. Ever since I was a baby, my uncle, my aunt, my grandma, everybody would come together just to meet at this Hon’s. (Or the Chinatown location).
When I heard the other locations were shutting their doors, I felt a huge pang in my heart at the thought of losing that tradition. Then, when I realized this one was staying open, I felt such joy. Even though we also went to the Chinatown one, finding out that the employees pooled their money and bought the New West location filled me with profound happiness.
It’s not just the food or the people—I fully understand what people mean when they said a place “feels like home.” I don’t think people truly grasp what impact a restaurant like this has on you. It’s not just a restaurant—it’s thousands of memories: me and my sister fighting at the table when we were kids, scattered snapshots of growing up together.
If you haven’t been to this restaurant, do yourself a favor and go. It’s the most amazing place you’ll ever visit, and it just reminds me of home now. It’s so ingrained in my life—I don’t even think any word can explain it except “home.”
If you go (which you should), please tip generously. The staff are truly amazing—remarkable.
I’ve never once had a bad experience in almost 26 years.
Get the house special chow mein, curry brisket with rice, BBQ pork noodle soup, crispy squid… and their famous potstickers. Those are just a few of my family’s favourites.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk :^)
