As a Singaporean, this is HANDS DOWN one of the closest-tasting Singaporean food spots I’ve had outside of Singapore!

Very good food. Interesting flavors. Highly recommend the Rose Milk ( Bandung) drink. There are multiple options and flavors, I had the Nasi Lemak ( Rice and chicken) and would go back to try other options.

The chicken rice and fish soup are standout dishes, while the vegetarian mee siam laksa caters to diverse tastes. The Tender Beef Rendang and Extra Spicy Assam Fish Curry are great options. With a small but inviting space, this new restaurant in New Westminster provides great value for money. The mushroom noodle, green beans with sambal chili sauce, kaya toast, and chweek kueh are popular choices. The satay skewers are juicy and excellent. The desserts such as the black glutinous rice cooked with longans and topped with coconut milk and the mung bean dessert with crispy fried Chinese doughnuts are refreshing. The Pulot Hitam is a must-try dessert. Parking can be challenging as it is street parking, but the food is worth it. The efficient service and cozy atmosphere make Shiok Canteen a must-visit spot for Singaporean cuisine.
