“There’s a reason Haidilao has become so successful around the world. Even after establishing itself as a leader in the hot pot industry, they never seem to stop innovating. Every time I visit, there’s something new.

But what truly sets Haidilao apart from everyone else is the level of service. And it’s not something that can simply be described as “professional” or “friendly.” There’s a unique culture here that makes you feel like you’re coming home when you walk through the door — happy, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Many restaurants can provide high-quality, professional service. But that feeling of being completely embraced by a warm, joyful atmosphere, and being genuinely looked after, is something I’ve only experienced at Haidilao.

Over time, I’ve come to remember the names of many of the staff here. But two people I especially want to remember and thank are the managers, Kid and Vivian.

I’ve seen them handle the restaurant under intense pressure and keep everything running efficiently and smoothly. I’ve also seen how they respond when unexpected problems arise — staying calm and flexible, communicating clearly, and finding ways to resolve the situation. They have an excellent eye for detail, strong judgment, and the ability to make good decisions in challenging moments.

And a special thank-you to Kid. To us, you’ve become much more than a restaurant manager — you feel like family. We’ll keep coming back, again and again. And I genuinely recommend that everyone experience Haidilao for themselves — not only for the food, but for the unique culture and warmth that make this restaurant truly one of a kind.“

“I doubt you will find better prepared dishes or a cleaner restaurant in Richmond than this modest cafe, even in a more extravagant establishment The chef (yes, not just a cook) is world renowned and the owners outgoing and friendly.“

“Had a really delicious dinner at Toedam! We ordered the King Set ($108) for the family, and we finished everything — the meat was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned. We also ordered a spicy cold noodle, which was tasty overall, although I found it had a little too little broth.
One tip if you’re ordering for BBQ: I personally wouldn’t recommend the beef short plate here. Since it’s sliced quite thinly, it cooks very quickly and can become dry if you’re not careful. I’d definitely go for thicker cuts for grilling.

“Absolutely love the kotlet sandwiches, they’re packed with flavour, perfectly seasoned, and made with real care. The bread is always fresh and the portion is generous. The owners are some of the nicest people you’ll meet in downtown Vancouver; they’re warm, welcoming, and clearly put a lot of heart into everything they make. Highly recommend!“

“Haven’t been here in a while. Feels like this place has been around since the pandemic.

Clean, bright, and you can pick your own ingredients. The selection is smaller than Big Way, but still decent.

The mala dry pot came to about $57 — enough for roughly a meal and a half, though still a bit pricey. Probably over $30 per person for a full meal.

Ice cream is comparable to Big Way, though not as good as Dollar Shop. Members get 30% off on Tuesdays, and weekday afternoons come with a complimentary drink.

Overall, the food is pretty average by Vancouver standards, but there’s usually no wait and the environment is nice.“

The food was really good and tasted fresh. My son absolutely loved the chicken sandwich, and the tomato soup was delicious. Everything was made fresh, and you could definitely taste the quality. The coffee was also freshly brewed and tasted great.

“Incredibly authentic and delicious thai food. We decided to check it out today and tried the pad thai, the krapow and the sticky rice and everything was amazing. I’ve yet to have any thai food taste so similar to Thailand. The service was amazing and our server was very friendly, this is a must try spot if you love Thai food!“
