I recently visited BlackHills Estate Winery and had such an amazing experience! Brett was welcoming, charismatic and knowledgeable. He set us up at a table with a great view and poured us some fantastic wines. At the recommendation of the fabulous manager, Jesse, he was able to open a bottle of bubbles for us to try. Our line-up of wines were great and sparked a lot of conversation. Brett led us through the tasting in an easy, relaxed and professional manner, answering all our questions and informing us of all the latest developments in the Okanagan. He also touched on some of the international wine industry processes which are being used in the Okanagan. My favourite wines from this tasting were the sparkling, the Addendum and the Nota Bene. Always a great pleasure to get out to BlackHills Winery.
Our server (male with longer blonde hair) was wonderful. The food (burrata and meatballs) were to die for. The wine was delicious. However, this was all soured by the older blonde lady that rang up our bill. She was beyond rude and sour, ignored us while she addressed a customer that stood behind us, and didn’t even ask us if we wanted to purchase any wine…
For the record, we wanted to buy wine. But we were left with such a bad taste in our mouth by HER rudeness, that we didn’t!
It was an unfortunate end to an otherwise pleasant afternoon.
Hadn't visited Black Hills in several years, and stopped by for a tasting earlier this week. As usual, was not disappointed. Brett did a great job of taking us through a tasting on the patio, and we were very appreciative of an extra offering! He got me very interested in concrete tanks and their use with some of the Black Hills wines. Thanks Brett!
Black Hills is one of our favourite stops in Oliver! The wine tastings are always very informative and not rushed at all! They have one of the best views sitting by the pool. Gord is amazing at what he does and really takes the time to educate you with a great sense of humour! Always enjoy coming here again and again!
We had Tracey as a Wine Educator and she was great. Learned a lot more than we had on other tours and she was very funny and made the afternoon enjoyable. We went from just going for a tasting to have a delicious lunch and a couple of glasses of nice wine.
We 6 were pleased to be hosted by Gord, whom we have met several times now. Gord is engaging and knowlegable, with a fine sense of humour. The wines were delicious, as were the lunch items we ordered to accompany them.
Pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of wines. One of the few wineries where I enjoyed all the wine in the tasting.
Beautiful place but the wine tasting felt rushed and not very informative. Brought my visiting parents for a tasting, the one wine they really liked they couldn’t purchase as they weren’t part of the wine club - which would make no sense to join for them. Very disappointing to have to taste something they cannot buy even though they knew they were out of country. This place is overpriced for the tasting and their wine.
Black Hills of yesteryear is not the Black Hills of today. They sold out to the bean-counters, and as a result one of my favourite BC wines..... Note Bene....is now little better than a bottle of Ruby Red.
Way to go bozos! You are in a race to the bottom.
Where I used to readily pay near $70 a bottle, now I wouldn't trade you a bag of empty beer cans for what you refer to as Note Bene.
Good luck to your future. You'll need it.
Wine was great. Service was AWFUL! So unwelcoming! Will not be back considering there is a thousand wineries, I will only return to those that make me feel welcome.
ONLY nice person working was the young hostess who was lovely!
Curly haired rude woman walking around RUINS the vibe!

Black Hills was a lovely experience. Mitch was so charismatic and gave such great and clever tasting notes. Jasmine also was so kind to offer us a ride back to our accommodations. Incredible wine and food, but even better staff. Visit Black Hills!
The person that was serving our wine was very friendly, quite knowledgeable and very professional. The wines are amazing! Always have a good experience when coming to Black Hills!!!
Gary! Was excellent. Wise kind and overall and awesome experience.
Mitch was amazing with our tasting at the vineyard. We were introduced to quite a few and found Mitch to be very knowledgeable. One of my fave wineries and I was thrilled to take our daughter and her hubbie visiting from Manhattan. My fave note to Bene and carmenere. The rose beautiful this year. Always a stop to remember.
Great wines! They were down one server and still did a great job!
