Impossible to make reservations. I have called countless times during their open hours and it gets sent to voice mail. I have also driven there twice to be turned

This gem is tucked beside SaveOn. Wouldn't have seen it if not for Google Maps. The generous portions and the freshness of the raw fish are worth every penny spent.

If you're seeking an authentic sushi place with the freshest and softest fish, this is a great spot! Their Deluxe Nigiri set was an amazing gastronomic experience and was worth every dollar.

This is a compliment but it feels very hole in the wall hidden gem vibes. I had the nigiri and it was all very well prepared and tasty.

I have tried dozens upon dozens of sushi restaurants throughout the lower mainland, and this place is as simple and authentic as it gets. For people that can really appreciate fresh, authentically prepared nigiri and can taste the difference in quality - this place is for you.

Authentic sushi place operated by Japanese. The quality of sashimi and nigiris is very high and it's certainly worth a visit if you are looking for a more refined sushi experience. They have a lot more choices of fish (e.g. Aji) as well that you probably won't find in other places.

Food is always great. Seasonally available fresh seafood selection and imported selection of beers and sakis. Family owned and operated. Closest to authentic Japanese as you can get in the Tri-cities. Not a flashy place but the passion shows up in the sushi and sashimi presentation. A bit pricey and the food takes a while to come out but if you're not in a hurry, it's worth the wait.

Enjoyed the down-to-earth authentic sushi meal served by a Japanese couple. All the seafood tasted fresh and meticulously prepared. Make sure you go for the special dinner (Wed,Thu,Sun only) which includes a mini chirashi, 4 pcs aburi saba, and a clam miso soup - all for only $25! This was not on the regular menu so I'm guessing it could change. Portion was generous. I would definitely come back.

Haven't been here since the pandemic but I am thrilled that they are still here. My husband and I had clam miso soup, agedashi tofu, kaisen salad, and nigiri platter. The flavor of each dish was spot on and so fresh. I was able to avoid deep fried and high sugar foods. After most restaurant meals my blood sugars are usually very high especially after sushi but not after dining at Shyun's. We will definitely be back as this restaurant checks all the boxes!!!

We came on a weekday evening with reservation and needless to say, the restaurant was pretty empty when we came and no reservation was needed. This is a mom and pop shop and while I came across reviews regarding bad service, our young male server was quite charismatic. He was quirky and it was refreshing. We didn't find him very helpful in terms of answering our questions or giving recommendations, but he made the effort to find out answers to our questions. Our food came out quite slow, but this is understandable given that only two people were working in the kitchen and there were takeout orders to fulfill. We ordered the beef carpaccio, assorted sashimi, deluxe nigiri, and soft shell crab roll. The beef carpaccio was delicious. It was soft and buttery and was so refreshing from the acid of the ponzu. The assorted sashimi had a good variety. My bf ordered this so I can't comment on the taste. He mentioned that it tasted okay though some were a bit fishy. The deluxe nigiri was good value if you want to try a bit of everything. I really liked the scallop nigiri and enjoyed that they were traditionally prepared - one bite with a touch of wasabi inside. The blue crab roll tasted like your typical dynamite roll, but made with soft shell crab instead. I would've preferred the crab to be a bit crispier, but other than that, that was a solid dish. Overall, this is a hidden little family joint serving up some traditional Japanese dishes. Our 4 dishes and 2 green teas came to around $120, which isn't overly expensive considering the food ordered though it isn't necessarily affordable on a day-to-day basis.
