Food tastes alright for that price point and value. The seating was decent. Washroom was a bit dark with no light inside individual stalls.
The taste and freshness of assorted sashimi was bad, the seafood noodle was only provide the cooked salmon leftover, none of prawn, squid or mussel, unexpected experience, never go again.
This place has no services and no respects to their customers.
We saw a Facebook recommendation and decided to try it out. When we arrived, there were only two tables with a total of four customers. We were waiting at the door for a while before a waiter finally lifted his head and saw us.
Two of us ordered three items, one special roll, one dish of udon, and one bowl of don (rice). It took 15 mins for the special roll to come and another 15 mins for the udon. The Don seemed got completely forgotten.
I went to a waitress (fyi. They don’t walk around and check if any customers need anything. You have to go to them.) and asked about the Don. She then went to the kitchen and brought it to our table. The Don was sitting at the kitchen for a while and the rice was cold when we tried the first bite. We told the waitress that the rice was cold, and she responded it was not cold. We asked her to touch the bowl as it was cold. She didn’t say anything and took the Don away. Another 7 or 8 minutes gone by, a different waitress brought the same bowl of Don back to the table without saying anything. We touched the bowl. It was still cold. We complained it was still cold. She didn’t say anything and brought the Don away. We sat another 10 or 15 mins, and no one came to tell us anything about the missing Don. We had enough and asked for the bill. We waited for about 5 minutes. The bill came, along with the missing Don. We rejected the Don. The waitress didn’t say anything. She took the Don away and came back in a minute (first time we had their efficient service). She threw the new bill with the Don removed and the OPS machine on our table. Oh, Yes, she threw them onto our table and walked away without a word.
We received no apologies, no explanations, no respect, and no service. This is the first time that we did not give any tips in a North American restaurant.
Ajishou, you should spend time and money in training your staff rather than promoting yourself on social media.
The server clean up table very noisy slam the plate into cleanup bucket, kart is dirty.
Food not up to par , udon cook poorly and soup sucks like boil water with no flavour.
Deep fried tempura was bad, not fresh, deep fry oil was not hot. Disappointed with bad frying oil.
Low quality sushi place.
Will most likely not return again.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Not only was the service practically non-existent — we waited a long time and no one came to check on us or offer any help — but the food made me sick. Shortly after eating, I had a bad case of diarrhea, which clearly indicates issues with food hygiene.
The staff seemed uninterested and unprofessional, and we felt completely ignored throughout the meal. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I definitely do not recommend this place and will never return.
** LONG WAITING TIME AND BAD SERVICE**
AVOID this place. If you are looking for good food and service, this is NOT the restaurant. Me and a friend came here and was ready to order but the server didn’t even look at us once to take our order. We waited 10 minutes before raising our hands. Once we placed the order, 4 other parties arrived after 10-15 minutes. Other parties got their appetizers before us and their food arrived at the same time as my friend’s which took 40 minutes. How can my friend’s order arrive at the same time as another party who came in 15 minutes later?? Mind you, the restaurant was not busy when we placed our orders. The staff then give me someone else’s order and went back behind the counter with a “I forgot to put in the order” face. Took another 10-15 minutes before my order arrived. Basically a 50 minute wait for one dish.
** FOOD RATING **
My friend’s chicken katsu is just okay, like any other place. My pan fried soba came out soggy and no other flavours except burnt and onions. Tiny portions for both.
Overall, don’t go here.
Happy hour is stated to be starting at 2:00pm on their website. When we arrived at 2:30 the server told us it starts at 3:00pm. It feels very misleading as it is not clear which is correct? It seems like they wanted get more money out of us, will not come again.
Best place for Beef Sukiyaki. Amazing.
Need more Japanese ondo music.
I recently visited Ajishou, a Japanese restaurant located at Central Mall in Garden City. After checking out the reviews, which were mixed, I was curious to try it out for myself.
## The Experience
The decor at Ajishou was elegantly done, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. I ordered the Yakisoba chicken and Ebi tempura.
## The Food
Unfortunately, the Yakisoba chicken was quite disappointing. The dish didn't meet my expectations. I didn't like the sauce, which made all the vegetables taste bad. On the other hand, the Ebi tempura was crispy, well-cooked and good.
## Overall
While Ajishou had its moments, the disappointing Yakisoba chicken brought down my overall experience. However, the Ebi tempura was a standout, and the elegant decor was a nice touch. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, you may want to give Ajishou a try, but be sure to order carefully.
I got food poisoning from the sashimi
Restaurantji Recommends
I like the place, the staff are friendly,
Pretty disgusting when you see this crawling on your plate
Went for late dinner by myself. Ordered from their Happy Hour menu which enabled me to have variety of dishes (hamachi sashimi, salmon sushi, chicken karrage & deep fried tofu) in under $30 including gratuity.
I think they're understaffed or they focus too much on takeout.
My teriyaki chicken lunch set came out fast and the chicken was light and crispy 😋. The portion is big and the dining table is spacious for four people. The tempura is average in comparison to the teriyaki chicken.
