Cactus Club Cafe Richmond Centre

Was there for a birthday gathering on Saturday and it was by far the worst CC experience I've had. Waitress barely came around to take more drink orders. Food took forever to come out and when it finally did, she ordered the wrong item for my husband's dinner. Said it would take 5-10 mins to make, finally came out half an hour later when everyone was already finished the meal. When the bill came, the incorrect item was still on it.

Update: the manager Lori reached out for more details. She was able to verify the date and time I visited the restaurant. She was very understanding and apologetic; advised she would use this incident as part of training for her staff. I appreciate her efforts in trying to make this right.

I went on Feb 21 for dinner, ordered steak and shrimp , the food was cold, the shrimp was hardly cooked, still whitish color , was very disappointed and didn’t finish my dinner and didn’t ask for a box to take it home. Our server was good but she had so many tables to take care of and couldn’t offer a better service.

Tonight we dined in for my birthday, reservation of 3 people at 9pm. The person that sat us down was very kind and attentive and asked us how we were doing. However, when we sat down our waitress with black hair did not introduce herself or ask us how we were doing, was slightly dismissive of our requests (we wanted to refill soda and asked how long our food will take 20 mins after ordering), and did not check in on us while dining or paying. Anytime we received her service it was because I flagged her down. We also did not get a birthday dessert as i did last year, not sure if they changed policy or what.

Tonight we ordered beef carpaccio, steak frites, a poke bowl and salt and pepper wings. Everything was good, nice presentation, decent portion size, but the meat for the steak frites was dry.

Maybe tonight was a one off day, but as a former waiter, consistency is a professional obligation despite personal problems. Booked a reservation for 3:00 pm and arrived on time. When we got there, we were told we had a 90 minute seating time, which was no problem. The host led us to the table and realized the table wasn’t cleaned yet, so he told us to go back to the front and wait a few minutes and he’s come get us. We waited until about 3:20 pm and saw him seat someone else at that table. I asked the reception and she just responded with a few more minutes, didn’t tell anyone, and just went back to taking walk ins. By the time we get seated, we’d probably have only 60 minutes left to order, eat and pay. Didn’t see a point so we just left. Terrible experience.

Always a good experience at Cactus however couldn’t quite say the same for the last time. Dined here for a girlfriend’s birthday. Everyone at the table received their meals, but mine was missed. After about 10 minutes, I flagged the server, who explained that my dish had been left on the pass and hadn’t been run by the expeditors. It was eventually brought out after the rest of the table had finished eating. The server was apologetic and as a server myself, I do understand that mistakes happen, however they should be properly addressed and rectified especially as the delay was more than 20 minutes.

I ordered chicken lettuce wrapped, and honestly taste was the same, but the portion was half the size of what I expected.
