Double Double Restaurant Reviews
Extremely awful customer service.
Staff constantly pushing to order and asking us to pay.
When the meat was brought up raw ask to be redone. They only did via microwave
Ask to speak to the boss 3 times
And they speak Cantonese behind our backs. Absolutely careless and rude.
Never will go again
Restaurant opened at 10:30AM today and I was there shortly after to order takeout. The lady at the counter advised me there would be a 20 minute wait after I paid for the order (didn’t advise me at the time of ordering). I was also advised pick up would be by the front entrance. So I went there and wait. The staff who packed the takeout orders didn’t call out the order numbers. I wait 40 minutes then I checked with her. The Double Double Restaurant is a popular Cantonese eatery in Vancouver, known for its delicious dishes. Customers enjoy the various offerings, finding them all to be tasty. The set meals are filling and satisfying. Must-try dishes include the Watercress minced beef porridge, fried noodles, and rice rolls. The "Hong Kong Style Sampan Congee" is a bargain and flavorful option, while the "Sweet Chinese Donut" is crispy and not overly sweet. The eatery is praised for its excellent and affordable Cantonese cuisine, with large portions and a wide menu selection. Customers recommend trying the congee and Chinese donut combination, as well as the XO radish cake and other snack dishes. The restaurant can get busy, with a long queue usually unless arriving earlier than normal meal time. Service is generally quick, though it can be challenging to get their attention at times.
The food remains consistently superb, with dishes like the curry beef brisket, soy sauce chicken, and steamed fish with black beans receiving high praise. The restaurant delivers on comforting home-style Cantonese fare, with a focus on wok hei and well-prepared ingredients. While the service has improved in the past year, it can still be below par, especially during busy periods when the focus is on takeout orders.
