The pork cutlet rice here is amazing! Over the years, I’ve brought different friends, and they’ve all loved it so much that they’ve introduced even more people to try it. The prices are reasonable too. The only downside is the crazy long wait times.

Food was still tasty like it was before. Reason i'm giving them a 3 star this time is because they added so much MSG in their soup or food which made me so thirsty for hours after. This wasn't the case before. The soup used to be real ingredients and now it's the more generic powder miso

Katsu San is a go-to destination for those craving perfectly fried tonkatsu and spicy, flavorful jjamppong. Be prepared to arrive early—just missing the opening time can mean waiting in long lines. The food, however, is well worth the wait. The crispy tonkatsu pairs beautifully with the bold, spicy jjamppong, cutting through the richness of the fried dishes and keeping every bite enjoyable.

The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant, making for a satisfying dining experience. The portions are generous, and the quality exceeds expectations for the price. However, parking can be a hassle, so arriving right at opening is your best bet. On a previous visit, we ended up leaving due to the parking and wait time, but it’s clear why this place is so popular—it’s simply delicious.

My first time here.. Came for a late lunch on a Sunday and was told there was about 30-40 minute wait, but ended up only being 15 minutes or so. We both ordered the assorted tonkatsu set with a side of scallop and the curry.
Everything was absolutely delicious. The panko breading was light, fresh, and crunchy.. Not greasy at all.
The tonkatsu were big pieces that were juicy, tender and flavorful.. Not dry and tough like most places. (Which is why I usually never order that dish) The prawn was so meaty..I kept checking to see if they somehow squished 2 or 3 pieces into one! (Tonkatsu and prawn were my top 2)
The cheese and scallop were really good too, I'm very impressed with the portions and freshness.
I am forever changed with wasabi mixed in the tartar sauce 🤯🤯 if you haven't tried mixing the two, you are missing out!!
I'm not normally big in dipping the sauces but every one of them was delicious and I tried them all!
Highly recommend this spot! Wish there was a location closer to me!

Katsu San in Richmond, offers a great mix of traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist. Their RA-YU Champon Ramen is a must-try, known for its spicy, chicken-based broth filled with tender pork belly, seafood, and vegetables. The ramen’s chili oil gives it an extra kick, making it bold and flavorful. Beyond ramen, Katsu San’s katsu dishes are also highly praised for their crispy, koji-cured meats, which come with classic sides like rice and miso soup. With a cozy ambiance and fresh ingredients, Katsu San delivers a satisfying Japanese dining experience.

Back again. Assorted Chicken Katsu set. It’s just so good, and good value. It’s lots of fried food but it has that Japanese ‘lightness’ to it. Service is friendly, fast and efficient, atmosphere is light and staff are awesome. One day I’ll try the Raman but the cutlets amazing.

Not only the food but also the workers are great. I visited with my baby, and the hall manager was so warm and considerate, so we had a very delicious meal. Thank you to everyone who prepared the delicious food in the kitchen and to all the staff who served us kindly in the hall. I hope your business prospers and all is well!
