Really really really good ramen. They do what they do very well. Be prepared to wait on a sunny day for good reason.

The service is kinda slow and food not so good just typical pork chop cutlet but the unlimited rice and cabage coleslaw is perfect.

Got takeout from Katsu San and it was great. My combo came with pork katsu, two sauces, rice, miso soup, pickles, cabbage salad, and sesame seeds.

Katsu was crisp and flavourful even after the car ride home. Rice and salad were good as well, making for a balanced meal. Solid option for Japanese katsu.

We waited for 45 minutes on a weekday before getting a seat at this popular Katsu restaurant. The customer service by Korean staff was great and there were free refills for shredded cabbage and miso soup. I would recommend the tonkatsu set meal or the cheese tonkatsu set for newcomers but there are other great selections to choose from on their menu.

You have to get here minimum 15-20 minutes and queue before it opens if you don’t want to wait for an hour. We arrived ~10 minutes before opening and they cut off the queue only 1 party ahead of us which lead to a 45 minute wait.

However you can get one person from your party take one for the team and arrive an hour early to join their waitlist and just have everyone arrive at the estimated time with their orders ready. Or just order takeout.

The food itself was okay. The staff gives you a menu to look over while you wait outside (not allowed to wait inside) and take your order right as you are seated. Their display menu outside has very outdated prices and the real prices (picture attached) were like $5 more than the their displayed menu. I got the tonkatsu set and the tonkatsu itself was very tender and crispy (when fresh) which was a great surprise. The unlimited sides were great but nothing special at all and were very mid but we definitely made our moneys worth.

The ramen looked so good and was a huge portion which makes up for it having no unlimited items compared to the katsu sets. I would definitely try that if I came again.

While the food was filling and good, I don’t think it’s worth an hour’s wait. The estimated wait time got as high as 1h45m which at that point just go somewhere else or wait a few months for the hype to die down.

Service was excellent and the staff brought our sides very often! No complaints at all.

Arrived and told to wait for 45-60 minutes. I waited for 65 minutes, then asked how long would it take for the seat, and was told for another 30 minutes. The food just doesn’t suffice the long wait.

Got takeout here - the cutlet looked small but because the pieces were thick, it still felt like you got a pretty decent portion.

Katsu San in Richmond has become a go-to spot for our family meals. The katsu here is hands down the best we’ve had—crispy, flavorful, and always perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality in every bite.

What makes the experience even better is the amazing service. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.

Whether it’s a casual dinner or a weekend outing with the kids, we always leave full and happy. Highly recommend!

Once you try the pork cutlet here, it ruins all other places for you. Nothing else compares—this one is on a whole different level.
