Great sub shop! Seems like the bun has changed since we were there last.

2025.08.06. Obanhmi does a decent enough job, starting with a baguette that's fresh, flakey, with a filling choice, seasonings, vegetables. Up your order to a combo includes a spring roll of either pork or vegetable, soft drink or water, or for an additional charge of another drink in their inventory.

Small dining area to seat up to eight. Air conditioning, nice atmosphere and music. Free WiFi, credit cards accepted.

Sign up for their loyalty program by entering your telephone number. Each Bahn mi purchase earns a point. After ten points, you earn a free Bahn mi sandwich. Good for a light meal or snack.

Super Chill

The coffee is super cold, strong, and gets the job done! The sandwiches are yummy, the spring rolls are crunchy, and it’s a great spot to chill, grab a bite, sip on coffee, and then head out to your next adventure. I’d totally recommend it—it’s one of the best Vietnamese sandwich shops around!

Worst service ever. Go next door. Every time I ask for spicy, they say yes but i don't get. Today, I went in and stood for 5 minutes, nobody came out to serve me and I could hear them talking in the back. Try next door, also Bahn mie but much better service.

This was on our list for a while. We had heard good things about this place and had tried before but got sidetracked into the public market Chinese food court next door.

This time, we were committed.....and.....totally worth it.

My spouse is Vietnamese, and as she says, a bahnmi snob.

We ordered the deluxe house classic and the beef bahnmi.

As a non Vietnamese civilian, I thought they were excellent. The bread was perfectly toasted, and each sandwich had a ton of meat and fixings. Good size and delicious.

My spouse gave her stamp of approval as a bahnmi expert and said they were excellent as well.

They also have Vietnamese coffee and bubble tea which looked good but was too late in the day for me to have one.

Inside is a small seating area for maybe 10 people, Max. Clean, nothing fancy. They seem to do a lot of food deliver, so you can probably find them on Skip or Uber.

Street parking out front which you have to pay.

We parked at Richmond public market and walked over.

Will go back and recommended.

Would give 0 stars if I could

I’ve had bánh mì from Obanh Mi before—both the Richmond and Vancouver locations—and remembered it being good. Unfortunately, this time was a complete letdown. I ordered the Classic and the Chicken, and both were terrible from top to bottom.

The bun was subpar, the fillings were bland, and the essential pickled daikon and carrots were warm and barely pickled—totally missing that crisp, tangy punch that makes a bánh mì special. The Classic had barely any pâté and tasted lifeless. The Chicken was even worse—my husband’s half had fatty chicken skin in it, and the meat had no flavor.

With so many great places to get bánh mì these days, this one just isn’t worth it anymore. Disappointing all around.

Used to come here every now and then when they first opened and it was alright. I visited again after a long while and maybe it was just an off day, but the banh mi and pork salad roll I got was so lacking that I had to edit my review.
The bread was chewy and dense, not crispy at all. The pickled veggies were sparse to the point where I was basically eating a meat sandwich. The pork in the salad roll was so thin, I couldn't even taste it and it may as well have not been there.
I put two stars instead of one for the benefit of the doubt that it was just that one time and also it was half an hour before closing, but man, it was not good.

Had a $13 beef banh mi , expensive for what it is. Wouldn’t come back

I usually order from this place my usual chicken lemongrass Bahn mi and iced coffee, but the vegetables this time were not pickled at all. Please make sure to pickle the vegetables next time!

*That's the one reason why I'd give it a 4 star because of that mistake*

I've been all around the lower mainland for banh mi. Yet I still only come back here. Grab them for lunch or for your road trip. Lemon grass chicken and house special are our favorite.

Ordered 3 different sandwiches. Lemongrass, spicy beef and the honey garlic. All were approved good by 3 people. The lemongrass flavour is different-not the fabourite of the 3. Maybe just out personal opinion. Would recommmend eating here freshly made warm toasted sandwiches not soaked in lots of sauce. Would return. The prices are reasonable.
