Service is subpar. For example, there is no extra staff to serve water refills or ask how you're doing. Meals are served individually instead of the whole table at the same time, which led to my group waiting 10mins for a single plate of curry to arrive, and wait another 10mins for another plate and another plate and so on. The place is also extremely humid and warm. Food takes way too long to be prepared and serve, I mean it's curry, it shouldn't take more than 10 mins to serve the whole table. Prices are high for Japanese curry but alright Vancouver pricewise.

Walked in at 10:15am as their opening time stated 10am everywhere on website and google, but then got kicked out by the server saying store opens at 11:00am. Food was great but they need to be aware that people not always have time to waste around with false information.

Rice was cold. The pork cutlet was not even hot and not juicy at all.

Really enjoyed lunch with the curry tendon on rice. Staff was friendly and had a very nice atmosphere. Pleasant Japanese music was playing in the background. Each table had a small traditional dish of pickled daikon. Yummy. Street side parking just outside

This is one of the rare times I walk out and feel like I've been ripped off. Considering so many curry and katsu options in Richmond, I felt like multiple add ons are needed to be even remotely full. I even heard other tables asking what size of rice they had ordered when the food arrived. As for service, no water while others had some, and the staff saw me having to go to other tables to get my own tissues on 2 occurrences and never once offered to help. If the curry was extremely good I could let everything slide, but it was not a huge difference from the cubes you buy at a grocery store.

I usually like to make curry at home, but something about Oretachi curry just hits different. When I eat this curry, I feel an innate sense of strength dwell up within me, and I can feel the energy to run up the Grouse Grind several times over.

I frequently visit this place and I highly recommend the Namba special. It is very much the definition of bang for your buck!

Cute place and great service! Presentation was good! Was excited for the curry and ramen. Unfortunately we were disappointed in both the curry 6/10 (rated ok, served with cold rice) and the ramen 4/10 (broth tasted off, noodles were mid, and cutlet lacked flavour) only got half way through before calling it quits. Will keep searching for a good Japanese curry spot.

food is good but the service was a mess. they brought over the wrong dish three times and never came back to tell us if one of our dishes was wrong. service and organization definitely needs work.

They don’t judge us for dropping the egg (accidentally) on the table lol

We ordered three times in 2 week. The twice in last week took out from the shop which were very good and delicious. But we ordered from Uber last night, the ramen and udon were no taste and the curry soup were too spicy for kids even though I choose the mild spicy level. I will try it again but hopefully will be improved the quality next time

I visited a restaurant that specializes in curry rice, and I was really impressed with the overall experience. One unique aspect of the place is that they use ramen noodles with their curry broth. While the noodles become a bit too soft from soaking in the broth, it doesn’t take away from the flavor. The broth itself is rich and flavorful, as it seems to have been enhanced with stock, making it incredibly satisfying. Paired with an onsen egg, the dish reaches a perfect balance of texture and taste.

I ordered the fried oyster curry rice, which quickly became my favorite. The moment I bit into the oysters, the fresh, briny flavor of the sea burst in my mouth—it was simply delightful. Another standout was the fried chicken curry rice. The chicken had a perfectly crispy exterior with tender, juicy meat inside. It was easily one of the best fried chicken cutlets I’ve had recently. The portions of both the curry and rice were generous. For first-timers, I recommend starting with the regular portion, and if you’re still hungry, you can always opt for a medium-sized portion, especially if you can eat a lot!!

The ordering process was super convenient. Each table has a QR code, so you can order directly without waiting for a server. While the restaurant was a bit crowded, it’s a typical atmosphere for a Japanese curry shop. The rice they use is imported from Japan, and the quality really stood out—it paired perfectly with the curry. We each spent around $25, and we ended the meal with a fried pumpkin pie, which was the perfect conclusion to a great dining experience.

Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely return. Oh, and by the way, the male staff members are really good-looking too and nice!!

My wife ordered take out. Food is good. however my meal supposed to have egg included but it’s missing. It’s the email exchanges between my wife and Ken that frustrated me.

1st email. letting us know the egg should be in the curry. Of course we checked everything before contacting.

2nd email. telling us the staff said they did put it but he believes us.

none of this was needed. i believe 99% of customers would not waste their time to scam over an egg.

believing the customer and wording your emails better would have saved us from feeling that we had to defend our stance.

i live in this neighborhood. this my first time eating here and last time. i decided to try their restaurant because of some good reviews.

3 weeks ago samething happened to another customers. missing egg.

/rant off

eating there maybe better experience since if anything is missing they won’t make u feel like you’re lying

The katsu here is great and the curry is not bad. However, the ramen is not great and I definitely would not order that again. I would come back for the katsu though.
