cakes are really good! The flavor is nice and subtle. You can eat inside and the shop's environment is very nice too. I had the longan cake. The cake is filled with longans inside and out, with lots of cream. The whole cake is soft, creamy, and satisfying.

The spacious space looks like a beautiful garden and the atmosphere feels really warm and lovely. They have plenty of tables available for dine in as well so we got to sit down and enjoy some of the seasonal cakes. Everything was so yummy and we can't wait to come back for more!

They force customer to pay 12% minimum tip if you decide to eat or drink in the store. They charge 2% extra if you pay by credit card. Don’t ask me why, try it in store.

I was asked to leave a tip but I got my own coffee and cake, cleaned up the table afterward, and returned the dishes to the self-service area. I don’t even tip at Starbucks for this level of service.

The best cake I had in Richmond

We expected the cake to be good as usual, but it completely exceeded our expectations — it was outstanding! Beautifully made, full of fresh flavor, and the perfect centerpiece for our daughter’s birthday. Everyone enjoyed it. Rki Dessert Studios is a place we’d recommend not just for special occasions, but anytime you want to treat yourself to something truly delicious.

This coffee and cake shop seemed to be very popular with guests on Valentine’s Day💕. I ordered the chesnut Napoleon pastry for $12 and loved the pastry chef’s creativity of adding coffee flavoured jelly and chewy tapioca pearls in the pastry. The fancy presentation of their other cakes is delightful.

Differential Treatment
Guy that works there ignored me when I stood in front of him at the counter. He even walked away without any acknowledgment, not even a smile. Then a lady came over and served me courteously. Noted the tables were not cleaned after customers have left. Then a couple came in, that guy went straight to their table to clean up and moved the dirty plates and cups left there and politely greeted them with a friendly smiling face. Afterwards he even brought the drinks to their table, yes, with a smiling face of course. I had to go to the counter to pick up the drink myself. And I did pay a tip too when purchasing. Now why do they expect tips I wonder. You are supposed to put your used plates and cups away in their designated area too after finish. By the way, they also charge you extra % when you use credit card for purchases there. And from reading owner’s replies to other reviews - he/she does not really care about your business at all.

I’ve been enjoying cakes from this shop ever since they opened their first location, and they’ve never disappointed. The desserts are always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. You can really taste the quality in every bite. It’s become my go-to place whenever I want something sweet, and I always recommend it to friends who love good desserts.

Very questionable about this greyish white stuff inside their mango mochi…. Tastes very unpleasant, not so fresh mango + weird textured cream, not a good experience overall.

Bad service

I visited this café right after they opened and ordered a coffee and cake. There was only one table marked for laptop use, limited to one hour. After an hour, I asked the staff if I could order more food and continue working a bit longer, but they firmly refused. I then asked if I should leave, and they told me I could stay but not use my laptop.

At that time, I was the only customer in the café. I didn’t use their power outlets or Wi-Fi, so this rule felt unreasonable. I left immediately, leaving my coffee and cake unfinished. I understand having policies, but they should be applied with some flexibility. Sadly, I won’t be coming back.

Friendly and helpful service. Had the blueberry cake and pistachio cake.

The blueberry cake had more blueberries inside the cake. Layered with chocolate chiffon cake and chocolate oatmeal centre with small crunchy chocolate balls. Very tasty combination.

The pistachio cake was our favorite. It had a light pistachio flavour, but the inside was layered with white chiffon cake and jelly/pudding filling and grapes. My kids loved the jelly filling and the grapes were very sweet. At $13 per mini cake it was worth it for the size and considering how different it was from other chiffon cake places.
