This is now a pizza restaurant (Moncton Pizzeria) serving amazing pizza. Wood fire and stove oven makes a huge difference in taste and texture. Pizza slices are big and satisfying staff seemed to be warm and welcoming. I will definitely go back.

He accept only cash. It’s not a real sourdough, the owner seems angry. Not coming back again. After two days the bread was too old and stale.

We were in Steveston for the Salmon Festival. We noticed they had a huge Canada flag hanging from the front of their store. It was UPSIDE DOWN!! Now anyone who knows anything about respect it is NOT these people. Everyone knows great care and respect should be observed when flying the flag of Canada. We went inside and asked for the owner. We told him about the flag and he didn't believe us and treated us as a nuisance. We asked him to fix the flag. Granted he fixed it promptly but his attitude towards us was reprehensible.

One of the best breads around. I got the German “rye” one, reminded of a mountain bread from a small village in France near les 2 Alpes. Comparable quality to Bigsby Bakehouse, in Arbutus, but different styles of bread. What Romania bakery has in superiority is the freshness and durability of the bread, plus you don’t have to book anything in advance, you just go in the store and you find freshly baked bread. Now, addressing some of the ridiculous comments below:1) people are clueless about what good bread is and the cost of bread these days. Some people find it curious that the crust is hard/crusty, and the inside smooth…that’s like the definition of a solid good bread. This is not Cobs or Terra.2) people complain about it not being sourdough or the Baker saying it’s sourdough and it’s not: not every single bread on earth is sourdough. In fact that definition doesn’t event really exist in shops in France for example, “au levain” is not a thing that you look for , it’s just a fancy hipster term now. And guess what, you can have a bit of sourdough in your bread, but it won’t make the whole bread “sourdough”. So, he didn’t lie to you, and there’s a sign in front of all of his bread telling you what it is. So if you don’t know what sourdough is and still complain, just stop.3) Price: this bakery’s bread is much heavier that other comparable $10 breads at Bigsby for example, mostly due to how dense they are and larger. Large + denser doe =Heavier = more expensive. Also, the price of quality bread ANYWHERE has gone up like crazy (look up price of baguette in France, almost $6 CAD), France is getting ridiculous now, imagine. And if you feel you got charged more compared to other folks , could be due to the following reasons : a) the guy is alone and baking everything and managing on his own. Surely depending on seasonality, changes in prices and effort is required, that can affect the price. Just yesterday I went to LAF cheese monger and the Camembert they sell there was $2 cheaper than last time only a couple weeks ago. I didn’t through a tantrum for it. b) if you still think you got screwed on the same day someone got it for $10, maybe it wasn’t the exact same bread (he has 3 kinds from $10, $15 to $25 I think), or c) maybe you were just yet another clueless annoying customer he’s tired of, asking about stupid sourdough and you deserve it. If you want bread under $10 that soft and that says “sourdough” to make you happy, go to Save On Foods and save us from your opinion.4) The Baker’s personality/customer service: he is old school European, and not a tourist guide. That’s part of the charm. He is absolutely genuine, smart and has a ton of knowledge. From my first experience: a) he allows dogs inside no problem, unlike 99.9% of other bakeries, b) he can spot where you are from almost instantly (se comment below about the other Romanian guy) and can speak multiple languages. c) that’s the type of personally that makes everyday life interesting, it’s hard nowadays to have enjoyable random conversation with people, we should appreciate it when it comes.Recommendation: have a smile on your face when you come into the store and say hello, ask questions, I’m sure they will help the process of having a good experience. Goes both ways, but one way is better than none.

We were in Steveston for the Salmon Festival. This guy had a Canada flag hanging from the front of his store. It was UPSIDE DOWN!!! I am surprised no one noticed as it was mid day by the time we went inside to tell them about it. He changed it immediately but didn't offer anything remotely like an apology. Please stay far away from these disrespectful people.

What a nice place, I always get positive vibes when I come to this store. The guy is very nice and treats you with fresh bread samples.

Not worth buying at all, basically not sourdough bread, and expensive, cash only. Suspected of tax evasion & money laundering, such a shop and shop owner are totally unworthy of trust. Their food is just as untrustworthy!

Nice and nostalgic place, good and fresh bread. The place reminded me of my childhood Cartoons. It was expensive in comparison with the market. Also, you need to pay in cash.

We had such an interesting visit here. My wife had me pose outside for a photo when the owner came up and said "You must be Romanian", to which I replied "Well, yes, my both of my mother's parents were Romanian. How did you know?" He answered, "If you're posing for a photo outside here, you're probably Romanian." That led to a lengthy conversation about life, bread and all things in between. He's a fascinating guy who also happens to make some very tasty bread in the old world traditional way.We bought one of the "small" loaves, which lasted for the rest of our visit to the area. While it got hard, it never got stale, and a quick zap in the microwave revived it to chewy goodness.
