Root 98 has some of the most decent food and great coffee at Vancouver International Airport. The seating is a bit tight since you’re perched on high chairs at a bar, but it’s a great spot if you want to watch sports while you eat.
The food definitely doesn’t taste like typical airport quality. I ordered the breakfast — the eggs were just okay, but the potato wedges and sausage are great! The caramel latte was excellent. Service was quick and efficient as well.
Overall, a solid airport dining option if you’re looking for good food, quality coffee, and a place to relax before your flight.

Food was good but the service was not great. None of the employees there wanted to be there and were standoffish.

I tried to take pictures of all of the manual items and prices so you can decide if this is a good stop for you as you’re planning your airport routine. The baked goods actually did look pretty good.

Had a great experience at Root98 in the YVR airport. The food was fresh, tasty, and exactly what I needed before my flight. Service was excellent—Shirley was especially kind, attentive, and welcoming, which made the visit even better. It’s not always easy to find both good food and great service at an airport, but Root98 delivered on both. I’d happily stop here again!

I ordered one medium bubble tea (around $10), but the taste was quite ordinary and the pearls were hard and not very chewy. Overall, staff were so sweet and helpful, just extremely overpriced.

Tried the BC Beef Burger and it was amazing juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly! The portion was generous and really satisfying. Even though it was during the lunch rush, the service was quick and friendly as always. Highly recommend this spot if you’re around YVR

The pesto chicken is also really nice and perfect if you’re in a hurry , it’s ready to go when you don’t have time to wait for the all-day menu (which is made to order). The staff are super friendly.

Went to this mini bar with some grab n go food offer as well. The avocado toast I had was the best food I ever had in the airport (if you know, you know). Thanks to Meriya for taking time to explain the menu. Will definitely comeback!

Even during the lunch rush with a line-up, the service was impressively fast! Jenny and Tracy welcomed me with friendly smiles and provided excellent service. They also recommended an amazing dish, I had the chicken and kimchi bowl with extra avocado, and it was super delicious and very filling. Definitely coming back to this place next time I’m in Vancouver!

Be careful if you have an allergy. The Chicken and Kimchi bowl is not gluten free, even though it is labelled as such on the tv screen.
Owners should really do a better job of updating the allergy information on the menu.

Breakfast sausage and egg served in cardboard box was mainly uneatable. The oven chips passed but reconstituted egg and ghastly sausage with tired salad fit for the bin.
I made the tea myself it was ok.
Would suggest choosing something from the counter you can see and make a judgement call on
