I made a reservation, but still had to wait over 20 minutes without being seated. What’s worse, many people who arrived later than me were quickly taken in, clearly because they were more familiar with the manager. This kind of treatment feels unfair and shows no respect for customers who book in advance.

Food is good, we have been here many times over the years. We loved the food here, but this time the service is poor. I respect the 90min dinning time for restaurants. So we finish within 90min and paid. But why rushing people out? The moment after we paid, and we were waiting for friends for washroom, and they were here rushing us to leave. I respect the rules and followed it, and still got rushed to leave…

All these 1 star reviews just share complaints about service, which is fairly typical based on the customer base that comes here. My assessment in an objective review for this place is 4 stars based on the criteria mentioned: food, service and atmosphere.
Food was great. Flavors wonderfully balanced on the dishes we ordered. Not overly seasoned, ingredients are good quality and portions generous. 50 years of eating dim sum and the food here stands out.
Service was OK, not exceptional but still serviceable when you ask for it. They are busy and won't necessarily be attentive to all tables. They are a bit uncoordinated as well (we waited on our last dish to come out and asked where it was, 2 people came out with the dish).
Atmosphere is nice. Restaurant is nicely decorated, tables spaced apart well and not as loud as other places when full. (A lot of dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong have unbearable noise levels!)
Overall, a good choice for dim sum, even on weekends (we ate on Saturday lunch time).

The Deluxe Chinese Restaurant is a go-to spot in Richmond for classic Cantonese dining done right. The food here hits that perfect balance between comforting and refined — every dish feels familiar but also a little elevated.
The dim sum selection is excellent, with dumplings that are fresh, delicate, and generously filled. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) are plump and juicy, while the siu mai packs a savory punch. For dinner, the roasted meats — especially the BBQ pork and crispy-skinned duck — are standouts, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Seafood dishes are also fresh and well-prepared, a real highlight of the menu.
Service is attentive and efficient, even when the restaurant is busy (and trust me, it often is). The staff knows the menu inside and out, and food usually arrives quickly without sacrificing quality.
The vibe is lively, with large round tables and families gathering for big meals — exactly the kind of atmosphere you want in a traditional Cantonese restaurant. It’s a place where you can come for a casual meal or a celebratory feast, and it never disappoints.
Overall, The Deluxe Chinese Restaurant offers great food, solid service, and that classic Richmond Chinese restaurant experience. A reliable choice for anyone craving authentic Cantonese flavors.

This dim sum place is easily the top two best in the area. The food quality is top-notch, and the flavors are great. They don’t skimp on ingredients, which is a huge plus. Highly recommended!

Excellent food, excellent service, amazing atmosphere. Not sure why only 3.5 stars. Hot and Sour soup is spicy, too spicy for my palate but I was able to eat most of it and the beer helped. Scallops and sugar snap peas were fantastic. The scallops were tender and seared to perfection. The braised beef ribs in tomato sauce were fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious. The fried rice with Chinese sausages and shrimp was excellent. Service was impeccable. Pricey, but definitely worth it. Going back tomorrow for dim sum lunch.
Came here again for Dim Sum and again had a great experience. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared made for a great lunch. Items ordered: pineapple bun stuffed chicken (contrast of sweet bread and curry chicken filling was incredible) , pan fried dumplings with chives (wonder mix of flavours), pan fried daikon cake with sausage, baked bbq pork buns (bbq pork was so flavourful and the baked bun was crispy), and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Service was great and it was super busy but wait turnover was not long. Quite reasonable prices.
Went here for dim sum again and it was great. Nothing bad. Yes, you pay $3 per person for tea, but it is unlimited.
Came back again for dinner and ordered Medicine Soup, mixed vegetables, and beef and noodles. Everything was terrific. Veggies were crispy and flavourful and the noodles were buttery with tender beef. A fourth time here in 3 days and another great experience.

A very nicevplace for dim sum. The restaurant is bright and spacious. Tables are not cramped together like a lot of Asian restaurants. The dim sum dishes is on the pricier side, but portions are generous. Unfortunately after 90 minutes, we were told that there was another reservation for our table. This was during a weekday, and we arrived at 10:30 am. I find that to be a tad short. But all in all, a great place.

Excellent food and service! I was initially hesitant given the rating but, upon reviewing the 1-star reviews more closely, decided to try this place. Best decision of the day!
The staff is moving very fast, just like they do in China. They may appear as rude as they hurry from one place to another, especially if they are busy. It is just a cultural thing. If you aren't sure about a dish, you may ask and they do take the time to answer.
The food is simply excellent!

Please have a basic customer service skills when someone calls to change reservation date. First, ask what the phone number is and the name it’s under. After talking back and forth to when and the time it’s supposed to be changed to, still the lady on the phone couldnt understand and offering me a later time… I had to get my partner to speak in Cantonese and offered him the date and the right time I initially asked for.. smh…

Food was good, but service was slow. We waited 25 min for a table even though we had a reservation. Parking lot is always full and you have to register your plate with reception or risk ticket/towing.

The food at their restaurant is great, but the service is really disappointing. Everyone looked so unfriendly, and even the food runners provided better service than the waitstaff! Please have your staff properly trained before letting them serve customers!
