WOW what a pleasant surprise, every visitor should stop at Village Books and Coffee House for a refreshing and unique experience that is like stepping back in time.
The owners are very nice and we had a great conversation and left with delicious beverages and a bag full of affordable books!
A real gem, thank you for the experience 🙏
Can’t brag enough about the service Mom and I received while visiting!
My ONCEr status was wonderfully teased and appreciated through their creation of a Dark Swan latte for me.
This place feels like it stepped straight out of the pages of a beloved novel — the kind where chance encounters, comforting aromas, and quiet wonder fill the air. Nestled in the slightly weathered but undeniably charming fishing village of Steveston — now gently cradled by the suburbs of Richmond — this place is a quiet marvel I stumbled upon entirely by accident. And what a discovery it was.
The combination of independent bookshop and cozy café feels almost too perfect, like a romantic idea someone once dreamed up in literature and, against all odds, brought to life. The book selection is delightfully broad and thoughtfully curated, with something to ignite every reader’s imagination. And then there’s the coffee — rich, well-crafted, warming — paired with house-made treats that taste like the kind of comfort food you'd expect from an old friend.
This place is no tourist-trap or polished chain café; it has soul, stories, and the gentle hum of locals who know they’ve found something special. If you happen to be anywhere in the Fraser Valley it’s worth every detour. A true hidden gem!

Cute little cafe and bookshop. Such a good idea. The owners are so sweet. I loved their sweet potato carrot & ginger soup, great for the throat!
Stores like these are why we love Steveston. Angela is very knowledgeable about books - they're updated on the latest book trends but they are also able to help you source harder to find books. I also really like that they have vegan soups. Thank you Angela and team!
A wonderful place for a cup of coffee and read books.
Village Books & Coffee House is a coffee lover’s paradise. I walked in, and the coffee house smelled INCREDIBLE with a bit of sugar, coffee and bread in the air. Not only does Angela have incredible knowledge of the books she has in store but she’s well versed in books beyond her store. She kindly ordered me books I was looking for and was lovely to chat with! Excited to be a regular here :)
I love this city and every time I come after my sport, the people are friendly and the food is delicious and made with love !
Great coffee, wonderful service, enjoyed dealing with the owners, they care about what they do.

Vintage harry potter like bookstore wz ladder, and a cozy Coffee shop wz different flavor coffee ☕️. Went diff times n missed this book store and happy i finally got at a right time today😍. Want to bring my fam n freinds there.
Great bookstore with new, used, and rare antique books all available in one place! The atmosphere is unique, and there's a cafeteria inside with outdoor seating. We found great children's books at a decent price, and the staff was very nice and helpful. It's a great place to visit if you're in Steveston.
First bought the macchiato, it’s really good, well-balanced flavours. The owner is very funny and friendly too, a nice guys. I saw 2 books nearby while I was waiting for my macchiato. I love the art of both books, obviously I’m an introvert and love arts and I bought them home. ? I didn’t take any photos of the store but you’ll feel very cozy and comfortable inside the bookstore/cafe.
Updates: I go to the store again today, anyone can find the treasure there. Because of no photo rule, I cheated, sketched the inside. ?
Great selection and depth of books engulfing a cone of wonderful coffee machines and baristas - check out the solid selection of crossword puzzle books or even the eclectic selection of Cook books.
Hidden gem in Steveston worth checking out. I come here every weekend now for an iced latte to drink during my Steveston adventures. Customer service is great and their lattes are even better. One of the best lattes in Richmond, honestly. Espresso is nicely balanced and the milk is perfectly steamed and groomed. The latte art is well done too. You can’t say that about many places. ?
