Food was okay (crab cakes + fish tacos) but not worth the price - there are other restaurants on the island that were cheaper and tastier.
Crab cakes was actually crab cake (comes with one) and was dry and somewhat tasteless. Fish tacos were okay.

Hubby and I enjoyed this place in previous years because we could get a table right along the harbour front... unfortunately they didn't have that seating this year. So the patio was fine. I'm totally prepared to pay a premium to sit outside (with our dog) and enjoy the ocean and boats and planes. But our lunch this year outrageously expensive. Salmon sandwiches were good but not outstanding and not for a hungry guy like my husband. The already expensive sandwich charged ridiculous prices for sides ... $6.00 for a small bowl of fries, just average fries. They're now in gouging territory. Won't be back.

Grossly overpriced even for a tourist area. A very small slice of Key Lime Pie was $14. It also disturbs me when restaurants to not have deserts on a menu and stick you with a high price.

The wonderful Sydne took care of us ( angel, you are an asset for anywhere you work!).
The food was fresh and delicious. The chowder (fabulous) and we had the tiny oysters that just sang ocean fresh.
Wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Salt Spring and the oystercatcher.

We were the fist patrons of the day and had a choice of tables . We had great service . The brunch menu has lots of variety to choose from . The coffee was hot and my meal was very tasty. I will return . Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We had such a great experience here. The food was seriously delicious everything was fresh and full of flavour. The service was friendly and attentive without feeling over the top. It’s a small spot, but it feels really cozy and welcoming. Definitely a hidden gem.
Best dishes: fish & chips, clam chowder, crab cakes and the crispy fries.

Once a Go-To Spot—Now a Total Ripoff
We used to visit Oystercatcher Seafood Bar & Grill everytime we came to Salt Spring. It was a fun local spot we looked forward to. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
Our most recent visit to have lunch will certainly be our last. The food was average at best, but the bill was outrageous. Sadly, we didn’t notice how badly we were overcharged until after we paid and left. That’s on us—but the fix is simple: we won’t be back.
Turns out, we’re not the only ones. After checking other reviews, it’s clear overcharging is a common issue here. Disappointing to see a once-loved local restaurant go the way of overpriced tourist trap.
Skip it, there are other options.

Decent food healthy portions. Service was great as was the view. I'm giving 2 stars because that's how many more dollars my meal was on my bill over what it said on the menu. Seems like a sleazy way of making an extra buck.

We got 2 piece halibut fish and chips take out delivered from the oystercatcher. The order arrived hot and crisp, with little dipping sauce containers and a lemon slice. Overall we were pleased, and had a good dinner on the north shore of Salt Spring!
