This little coffee shop is everything. The owners are incredibly kind, friendly, always welcoming- they make you feel like family. My son and I agree it’s our favourite. Seriously the best coffee I’ve ever had. A true gem in Shawnigan.
I recently had to drive a group down from the comox valley to shawnigan lake and drop them off and then pick them up 6 hours later. I knew I needed a coffee and came across a neat convenience store right near the lake , but just didn’t feel like the gas station / convenience store coffee on this day so I googled “best coffee in shawnigan Lake” and got a direct hit with Shawnigan House Coffee and chocolate ! Shawnigan House Coffee + Chocolate is a unique local family business with incredible chocolate quality. It is the first place where a barista isn't afraid to perform all coffee preparation operations. Two businesses cooperate here—neighbors cook bakery/pastry, creating no competition, just cooperation. The caramel macchiato is astoundingly yummy, and the hot mocha is recommended. The ambiance is very homey and delightful. A wonderful greeting included a discussion about London Fog and London Smog. Real ingredients are carefully crafted, not filled with sugar and syrups. Delicious coffee comes from the beans they roast. It is a fun experience listening to locals chat with the friendly proprietor. The owner is a hard working, kind man. This small town coffee shop is inviting, small, friendly, and personal. They also have apple cider, a rare find. Truly such a gem.
