Ordered the happy hour fries to start. Came out quick and she made sure to offer us more drinks. Lots of good happy hour choices.
Sat inside as we were going to play pool (1$ a game. Super cheap!) We didn’t end up playing as we were talking business. Darts also in back room area.
Friend had chicken burger and liked it. The beef burger was actually great. Not cheap but worth it. Had a Caesar salad side as we ordered fries off happy hour menu to start.
Only small draw back was the dated beer signs on the walls for such a charming and beautiful location. Feels like the local beer drinking pub which it truly is.
I will not just drive past anymore. The Black Swan is worth a stop.

“This little coffee shop is everything. The owners are incredibly kind, friendly, always welcoming- they make you feel like family. My son and I agree it’s our favourite. Seriously the best coffee I’ve ever had. A true gem in Shawnigan.”

“One of our favourite local restaurants! We've been here many times for date nights, birthdays, and other occasions, and it never disappoints.

The decor is quirky and charming, and the view of the lake is gorgeous. We've enjoyed everything we've ordered here, but the brisket sandwich, Stroganoff, short rib, and sticky toffee pudding with earl grey ice cream are always favourites.

The cocktail and mocktail menus are so good that we've never even bothered to look at the wine list! There are always interesting cocktail specials that are worth a try, and their espresso martini and spiced hibiscus margarita are my favourite staples of the cocktail list.

Parking is easy, and the service is always friendly and personable. It's such a blessing to have a place of this caliber in Shawnigan, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. We especially love all the local ingredients that are included in both the food and drink options.”

“The best pizza you can find on the island for sure, and trust me I’m not a bot saying this, I’m a real human with real emotions and the pizzas from this heavenly place has made me real emotional. The owner also saved me from an active volcano once and I owe him my life. I also met my soulmate when I bought my first pizza and also won the lottery. It’s just that good, try it. Trust me your life won’t be the same afterwards. Their crust is also so so good that even with my gluten allergy I can’t stop eating, even here in the after life, where I’m writing this majestic review.”

“We had dinner at Alpina Restaurant at Villa Eyrie Resort and were completely captivated by the breathtaking panoramic views of Saanich Inlet, framed by rolling mountains, lush greenery, and endless blue skies. Between the spectacular scenery and the outstanding cuisine, it was hard to decide which was more memorable!

We began with the rye sourdough bread, served with whipped butter and an apricot-cardamom butter. It was a simple yet elegant combination that we had never experienced before and absolutely loved.

For our mains, we enjoyed a roasted rainbow carrot salad with greens, feta, grains, and other flavorful toppings that made every bite delicious. The pesto pasta, finished with candied pistachios and a generous burrata, was an incredible combination of creamy, nutty, and herbaceous flavors. The seared tuna was perfectly cooked and served with fresh greens, while the grilled lingcod was flaky, moist, and delicately flavored, accompanied by tender beans cooked with tomatoes and other delicious ingredients.

Dessert was equally memorable. The **Les Rochers** was a rich, decadent chocolate pastry, while the **Tarte aux Myrtilles** featured a crisp tart shell filled with berry compote, topped with fresh blueberries and dollops of berry cream. The highlight, however, was the pistachio tiramisu. Our server assembled it tableside using ladyfingers, coffee, whipped cream, pistachios, chocolate, and other ingredients, turning dessert into a fun experience. The portion was enormous and easily enough for our family of four to share.

Outstanding food, impeccable service, and one of the most spectacular dining views on Vancouver Island made this a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.”

“⁣ Earlier in December I was in Duncan running errands and stumbled across Westfalian bakery cafe tucked away in its own little spot. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but inside was a huge assortment of traditional baked goods and Korean-inspired treats! ⁣ By the time I got there (around noon), most of the Korean pastries were already sold out, but out of what I did grab, the carrot cake was the standout; spongy, light, and perfect with my coffee. ⁣ Next time you’re in Duncan, pop in and check them out!”

“West Coast Fish N Chips : The fish is cooked to perfection( we usually get cod). The fries are home cut with skins on, have to say coleslaw is a bit chunky for some people who wear dentures..
