We were the first customers in for the day so not busy yet. Everything was excellent except for the food consistency. We had been in a few weeks ago and my husband had the pizza and it was excellent , beautiful crust around the edge etc. today almost no crust on the edge , so over cooked and hard to even bite into. I had the chicken burger again , it was tasty but not nearly as good as the first one. So disappointed as we were really looking forward to our repeat experience. We will try again once more and hopefully it will be more Consistent so we can continue to return with friends and family.

This is a new and very busy lovely restaurant overlooking the waterfront in Sydney. One bonus is that you can get two hours of free parking once you’re inside the restaurant.
Our server took our orders quickly and it wasn’t long before the food arrived. My friend had the burger and the yam fries. My other friend had the margarita pizza and I had the three tacos with halibut filling. The tacos were delicious and you got a decent size piece of fish in there which I was pleased about . The other notable thing was the halibut was cooked perfectly. It was not all dried out and the crispy coating was not too thick and it was cooked perfectly. I’d go back. Our server was friendly and prompt so that was a bonus.

We had such a lovely experience at Jacks on the Water! Our waitress Jade was absolutely wonderful — super accommodating, helpful, funny, and made sure we were well taken care of from start to finish. The setting right on the water in Sydney, BC is gorgeous, and the atmosphere couldn’t be better. Can’t wait to go back! Roby

Fantastic restaurant! The food is delicious, fresh, and definitely five-star quality. The waterside location is beautiful and creates a wonderful atmosphere. The only minor drawback was our server, who was quite standoffish and lacked the warmth you'd expect. Despite the lackluster service interaction, the quality of the meal makes this place worth visiting.

Stopped in just before flying out. Service was great, and the location is obviously unbeatable. Kept it simple with the single-piece Fish and Chips. Fish was pretty good, but the 'chips' were nothing that spectacular. I'd still recommend it. My wife's baked halibut I'm told was very good.

I have been coming here for a while and their burgers and sandwiches can be hit or miss but their sushi and pizzas are outstanding! Just last night i got this outstanding sushi don. It looked like a piece of art! It was $35 which was on the pricier end for me but it was well worth it. Loads of sashimi and sushi rice. I would recommend. Also they have nice cocktails and an amazing patio.

Barfly Bliss at Jack’s on the Water
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, we fluttered into Jack’s on the Water in Sidney with rumbling stomachs and crossed fingers for a table. As expected on a Saturday night, the dining room was buzzing and packed tight. So, we happily embraced our inner bar flies and landed on the bar side. Best decision of the night.
From our perch, we had a front-row view of the ocean, where the lights danced on the waves like champagne bubbles. The bartenders—though their names flew by too quickly to catch—were sharp, friendly, and perfectly in step, keeping the drinks flowing and service humming with ease.
We nibbled through a Caprese Salad that tasted as fresh as a summer garden, then dove into Crispy Halibut Tacos—golden, crunchy, and bursting with ocean-kissed flavor. Each bite was perfectly paired with the smooth, deep notes of our red wine.
Sometimes the best seat in the house is at the bar, wings folded, glass in hand, watching the evening buzz along. At Jack’s on the Water, being a barfly felt a little bit like being royalty with an ocean view.

Me and my friend went for dinner here and had such a great time! The food was super tasty and Chris, who served us, was amazing. He was so friendly and even gave us tips on places to visit in Victoria for our vacation. Totally recommend this spot!

Already a huge fan of Jacks Place on Bear Mountain. Hearing they opened up somewhere new in Sidney, we headed out to try it out. Great atmosphere, delicious food and even had Guinness on draft! (Rare to find as a Brit abroad!) Can’t wait to visit again.
