I have been coming here for a while and their burgers and sandwiches can be hit or miss but their sushi and pizzas are outstanding! Just last night i got this outstanding sushi don. It looked like a piece of art! It was $35 which was on the pricier end for me but it was well worth it. Loads of sashimi and sushi rice. I would recommend. Also they have nice cocktails and an amazing patio.

Barfly Bliss at Jack’s on the Water

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, we fluttered into Jack’s on the Water in Sidney with rumbling stomachs and crossed fingers for a table. As expected on a Saturday night, the dining room was buzzing and packed tight. So, we happily embraced our inner bar flies and landed on the bar side. Best decision of the night.

From our perch, we had a front-row view of the ocean, where the lights danced on the waves like champagne bubbles. The bartenders—though their names flew by too quickly to catch—were sharp, friendly, and perfectly in step, keeping the drinks flowing and service humming with ease.

We nibbled through a Caprese Salad that tasted as fresh as a summer garden, then dove into Crispy Halibut Tacos—golden, crunchy, and bursting with ocean-kissed flavor. Each bite was perfectly paired with the smooth, deep notes of our red wine.

Sometimes the best seat in the house is at the bar, wings folded, glass in hand, watching the evening buzz along. At Jack’s on the Water, being a barfly felt a little bit like being royalty with an ocean view.

Me and my friend went for dinner here and had such a great time! The food was super tasty and Chris, who served us, was amazing. He was so friendly and even gave us tips on places to visit in Victoria for our vacation. Totally recommend this spot!

Already a huge fan of Jacks Place on Bear Mountain. Hearing they opened up somewhere new in Sidney, we headed out to try it out. Great atmosphere, delicious food and even had Guinness on draft! (Rare to find as a Brit abroad!) Can’t wait to visit again.

Everyone who works here clearly hates their lives or their job. I kept checking to see if any employee might crack a smile and NOPE. They all look miserable. And please tell the cook to use butter salt and pepper on the tasteless mashed potatoes.

Great location with a beautiful oceanfront view. We started with Jack's Salad to share, but the side plate came with leftover food marks, so we asked for a clean one. The replacement plate still had residue, and we had to ask for a new one again. Eventually, we got a clean plate, but the salad was just okay—nothing special.

After waiting about 30 minutes after having salad, a couple of our other dishes arrived. The baked halibut was amazing—tender, juicy, and perfectly complemented by a lemony-sweet butter sauce. The gnocchi and golden beet were beautifully marinated and had a lovely flavor balance. The steak was good, tender, but lacked a bit of seasoning, making it less flavorful than expected.

Unfortunately, my poke bowl came out much later and didn't impress. The rice portion was small, and the tuna didn’t seem as fresh as I’d hoped.

Overall, it’s a good spot for a meal with a great atmosphere, but just make sure to check the cleanliness of your dish and utensils.

I had the worst pizza there I think I've ever experienced. I started off with a couple beer and was very hungry. I ordered the large meat lovers pizza and started eating at which point 1/3 of the pizza was finished and soon realized that it was awfully salty and had no meat whatsoever! It seemed to comprise of pork lard on cheese. I wrote to the establishment expressing my concern asking for a resolution to an awful meal and have not heard back, as a result I'm just left with this review to express my concern and realize I never should have eaten at this restaurant and certainly not order the pizza. I should have sent it back! I like to support the local restaurants in Sidney so it's with regret that I leave this review.

I was here many years ago several times because I love the location and before it changed ownership and I have never seen this place so busy, good sign!
Food is good, service is also good. It is paid parking, or if lucky you can find free on the street or the three free spots in front of the restaurant! Well done to the owners they have done a fantastic job. I would recommend to reserve but not necessary!

Great atmosphere but poor tasting food. Smoked tuna burger was meager on tuna and tasteless. Salmon salad was dry and tasteless. Pizza was overcooked and tasteless. Waitress was over zealous and a bit too eager to remove our plates. Restaurant has nice view and free parking.
