This is a great little pub tucked away in Sidney BC. The food was awesome, the view was incredible and the serve was outstanding. Our waitress Alice, was so good at her job. So friendly and genuinely happy to be of service. Can’t wait to go back
We have eaten at Rumrunners over the years and in recent past and have always been happy with our experience, the food, ambience, service. Today, not only were we shocked by the measly portion and presentation when we ordered the pizza special for $22.00 but by the the lack of kindness when my husband threw up from the food. It may have all been fresh ingredients as the owner hostilely told me but the combination of spices and ingredients did not work well together at least for both of us. As a chef for 30 years (my husband) we were both quite appalled by the owner's rudeness and lack of compassion. Rumrunners is off our list!
First and last time there.. Greeted at door with hand sanitizer spray bottle asking to put hands and sprayed. What was in that bottle? Felt like water. Not gel. My salmon burger was good but the portion was small for the price. Did not feel satisfied when finished. Had to ask server for water. Definitely won't go back.
I'm a local and haven't been to the Rumrunner in a few years. We stopped in last Friday and the food was AWESOME! Outstanding service too. I highly recommend the halibut wrap if you like some spice in your dinner.Whatever the owner and staff are doing, keep doing it. It was a great atmosphere and we will be returning.
We are peninsula locals that used to come here often. Since the scamdemic shutdowns this place has become horribly unpleasant. Miserable staff, bad food, very rude owners including 1 who yells at people for parking in front of the pub. This place didn't remove the illegal vax card mandate until way after the province lifted it. I'm sure if they could, they'd still try to enforce it. They're still demanding people douse their hands with alcohol sanitizer at the door. Overpriced, germaphobic, unfriendly establishment. It's had its day. Time to pack it in. We will never be back.
Went for lunch . View is fantastic over the marina . Service was poor . We were first customers of the day so dead quiet . Staff chatting among themselves and slow to greet us . From the menu we had the soup of the day , hotdog and grilled cheese sandwich . Soup was supposed to be goulash , but was basically a very low amount of beef and mostly mushroom stroganoff sauce . Horrible . Grilled Brie cheese and apple toastie was horrendous in flavour . The hot dog was the only decent part of that plate with all the bread and toppings being bland . So , don’t go there or at best done order those items . Waitress was indifferent . Did not ask if we enjoyed our meal . We were not in the mood for dealing with any other food they may have had on offer . Highly recommend that you go to the other pub around the corner . Wish we had .
Decent food . Nachos could use more cheese and veggies. Quick service and very friendly staff. The view is great even on a rainy winter day.
My wife and I had lunch today at the rumrunners Pub. What a huge disappointment. The prices have risen a great deal with no added value. I had the rumrunners burger, soggy onion rings a piece of lettuce and a tomato. How original and for 21 dollars. My wife was some what ok with her meal but very ordinary. Lunch was 70 dollars !!!! with 1 beer. The lowest tip range was 20% no option for other. These restaurants are going to kill themselves with these high prices with no added value. I will never go back.
This is the first review (of 276) I've ever done that was not based on my personal experience. But it was done by my wife, and we've been doing reviews together for 20 years and I trust her judgement. So. Other reviews have told you about the view, the staff, the room, and so on. This is all about the food. My wife had calamari, which is her go-to lunch choice (God knows why, as out of at least 100 tries he's been disappointed more often than not) but she said this was fine. Crisp, light batter, just right. Nice tzatziki. My daughter ordered clams and mussels, and thought the mussels were off. My wife tried them, and agreed. Not bad, but not fresh. My wife thought the miso didn't do the mussels any favour, but said the clams were excellent. So there you go. I'm going to try it myself, just to see.
Visited for lunch. I enjoyed the haddock wrap. Absolutely amazing. Too large for lunch, so I enjoyed it for dinner too! Great friendly, attentive staff and great atmosphere. I will definitely return on my next visit to Sidney.

Went here for lunch and it was very yummy! The customer service was excellent and they were very kid friendly, even offering a blanket for my near-napping child. We were very impressed and will go again when back in town!
Wonderful! Went back a week later with guests as we craved the items we had on first visit! Lots of food options as well.Hubby loved their fish and chips and I loved the shrimp and crab salad. Friendly service and a lovely view.
Stopped by for lunch during our harbour walk. Easily accessible with my mobility scooter, we were given a table overlooking the harbour. I chose the seafood chowder (nothing remarkable) and somewhat bland crab cakes; while my wife had an excellent shrimp and crab croissant. The restaurant was clean and well maintained and deserves another visit to sample other menu items.
Had an occasion to go to the pub on my 85 birthday. Met the owner and after picking up my two daughters at the ferry we went to the pub. Not only did we not have to pay for parking we were given the best outdoor seating in the place. All of the staff came and wished me well on this day. Food and service was exceptional and staff was exceptional. Highly recommend this pub!!!
Where to start…beside the view, there’s nothing much to enjoy. Crab cakes were clearly pre-made, seafood pasta (over $30) was mushy & quite unsophisticated for the price, bread super salty, cocktails over sweetened. Needless to say we avoided desserts. A place to avoid at all costs!
