Happy Village Restaurant Reviews
We ordered at 430 for 530, at 6 we called and we're told our order was forgotten, would arrive in 30, when we called at 7 we got the run around. When the food finally arrived it was lukewarm and well
When they first opened they were great! But they changed hands a few years ago and the food was never as good. still miss the ginger beef!
This is a great family run restaurant here in Sooke. Plenty of parking, for pick up or dining in. I have had their dinner for two combinations many times and it is very good, fresh, piping hot and good portions. We have dined in several times and the decor is nice with a recent light reno. At first glance the price per dish might seem a bit high, however the portion size is huge and the food top quality so it is a good value.

Happy Village Restaurant is a Chinese eatery that offers a mix of reviews but has become a favorite for many locals. The service is generally described as quick and friendly, with food arriving hot and promptly. While the chow mein has received mixed feedback in the past, recent reviews highlight the fried rice and Singapore chow mein as having great flavor and perfect texture. The almond chicken is noted for its large portion size, although it still has a minimal amount of almonds and is sweeter than expected. The honey garlic dish remains a highlight, though the quantity of sauce could be improved.
The restaurant features a friendly staff and a nice selection of menu items, including highly recommended dishes like wonton soup, tofu veggie, and chicken foo-yong. Parking can be a bit tight, but there is ample parking available in the nearby plaza. The food is consistently good for Western Chinese cuisine, with huge portions and affordable lunch specials. Customers often make the trip to Sooke just to enjoy the food and take a walk along the Spit.
While not exceptional, the restaurant provides a reliable option for Chinese food in the Sooke area, with a rating of 6 out of 10 for food quality. Dishes like ginger beef and dry pork are considered average, but items such as beef and broccoli, along with the Sweet and Sour Boneless Pork, have received praise for their flavor and generous portions. Happy Village remains a popular choice for both locals and visitors alike.
