I was visiting friends in the area and tried this restaurant for the first time. We called to inquire about vegetarian options for takeout, and the restaurant was very helpful. When I went to pick up the order, everything was neatly packed with more than enough cutlery. They were super nice and even gave us bonus spring rolls. Our party of 14 all enjoyed the food and would definitely come back again.

I need to edit this review. We dined in for the first time in a long time as we usually opt for take out. The way the food came out was severely disappointing. Both of the dishes that my boyfriend ordered came out at least 5 minutes before any of my food got to the table. Also the fact that they play the radio is obnoxious. Regardless of this dining in experience we will still order take out as the food is fresh and tastes just as good as the first time we were here.
The best quality sushi around cloverdale/surrey I’ve ever eaten! The salmon belly sashimi was like butter, the tuna is high quality deliciousness, the tempura is light, flavourful and fried to perfection. Truly amazing food sushi Shun has. Very friendly staff and the restaurant is adorable. Highly recommend!

We came to the restaurant on Valentine's Day looking for a nice place to enjoy some time together while our kids were at a party.
The restaurant was busy - tons of take out orders. When we arrived, two groups were ahead of us and were quickly seated. We were told it wouldn't be too long.
We waited about 25 mins for our turn. At the time we were told that due to how busy the restaurant was, it may take some time for our food to arrive. We communicated to the staff member that we had an hour before we had to leave and she seemed ok with that. Considering our experiences at other Japanese places this seemed like plenty of time.
When we sat down, we waited about 20 minutes - the staff would work back and forth serving other tables and would ignore my prompts that we were ready. When I called out to a server, the staff member who took us to our table finally walked to us and said "I ignored you because I told you we were busy. I don't think we'd be able to process your order in time so I did not come to take your order."
This was very frustrating for us to hear. The staff should have just told us from the start that they would not be able to accept walk-ins due to how busy they are - we would have understood. But to keep us around needlessly for an hour and completely ignore us is unacceptable.
I'm quite shocked at what we experienced from a very well-reviewed restaurant.
