Overall, this was a great experience. We had to wait for seating, but once we were sat down the service was quick and pleasant. We sat right by the water, which was lovely. I started my meal with the "award-winning" seafood chowder, and it did not disappoint. For my main, I had the two-piece cod with a Caesar salad. I had mentioned that the clam chowder was amazing to a group of folks who were attending the Vancouver Island Spyder Ryders Ryde the Rock event 19-21 Aug 2022 in Port Alberni and as I led 40 some ryders to Long Beach 35 of them decided to join me for lunch here... the staff was initially freaked out but amazingly were able to seat us all... fast food prep, super delicious food and as always... the chowder was a tremendous hit. Floathouse Restaurant serves great food, including exceptional seafood chowder, calamari, and baked brie. The seafood chowder is a standout dish—flavorful, filled with fresh ingredients, and award-winning. The mussels and evening seafood pasta special are equally excellent. The chef really knows his stuff and every fork-full is a delight. The service is professional, friendly, and fun. The cozy, rustic outdoor patio perfectly captures the coastal vibe with a splendid view over the harbour, and is kept warm with heaters and blankets. It is a dog friendly venue where you can watch jellyfish swim by. Not a big seafood person? The Canadian Eh pulled pork sandwich and the great salmon burger are definite winners. While popular and sometimes requiring patience, the quality of the dishes, fresh ingredients, and great service make it worth a visit.
