Aiyaohno Cafe is a cosy spot situated in the foyer of a building. I ordered the dumpling bowl (from a previous reviewers photo) and the owners were happy to make it, even though it’s no longer listed on the menu. Made with homemade dumplings, fresh veg, soft tofu and purple rice, the bowl was incredibly tasty and filling. Updated from previous review on 2025-06-15
Cute little cafe serving authentic matcha and hojicha from Japan, located in Vancouver's Chinatown. Their hojicha oat milk latte was excellent. Owners are warm and welcoming, and will strike up friendly conversation with you. I'd love to come back to try their food options, which include plenty of vegan options ranging from sandwiches to noodles to bowls. Updated from previous review on 2025-05-21
Tried both the vegan teriyaki chicken bowl and smoked tofu poke bowl.
The café seems to be located in the lobby of another building and has limited seating with only a few chairs and tables. The sandwich I ordered was amazing, but the experience with the matcha was disappointing. It was served cold, and they didn’t have enough regular cups, so they gave me a to-go cup, which felt smaller than usual. I tried the Hot Chocolate Festival matcha, and it was definitely not worth it compared to the price.

Cute little cafe tucked in Gastown/Chinatown. Staff were so friendly and I decided to come here in between my shift during my lunch break to enjoy the cafe vibes 😌
Good selection of menu items and drinks. I tried the truffled ramen egg sandwich - it was filling and tasty however I personally wished there was more of the truffle flavor in it.

Cute hidden gem in gastown with lovely staff! We had the iced hojicha and a pesto udon. Perfect cafe for a snack and beverage near Chinatown when visiting Vancouver. They have a summer drink menu that includes the popular matcha strawberry drink that was also delicious.
