In my opinion, the vol‑au‑vent seemed underbaked, with a dense, slightly raw texture in the pastry. The richness of the sauce also appeared to have soaked into the base, which made the overall structure quite soft, as though it may have been held before reheating. It was even served with a steak knife, which did help in cutting through the firmer bottom layer of the pastry. I wondered whether the pastry might benefit from being baked a little longer to achieve a crisper texture....

Hello - Sadly we had a very sub par evening. Not our usual experience. We waited a very long time for drinks, our appetizer never arrived and our main course was not hot when delivered. This was rectified as we said something but the truffle shavings were missing from the do-over. The staff seemed very off and confused. Again not the exceptional food and service we have come to expect. Perhaps something had happened or was off. Just wanted you to know.

This was my fourth visit to Alouette Bistro, and it reminded me exactly why it’s become one of my favourite spots. The staff are always so warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. On my very first visit, they surprised me with three cocktails on the house, which honestly set the tone for how thoughtful their service is.
