Amazing service and food! We ordered the parpadelle and the bigoli nero and they were incredible! Wine recommendation was also on point! Will be returning for sure. Make a reservation or be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes, but it’ll be so worth it!

I’ve been meaning to come here for a while after a friend recommended it, and I finally got to try it yesterday! We didn’t have a reservation but only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is small, but don’t let that fool you — the food is amazing!
I asked for a wine recommendation, and our server suggested a citrusy, slightly sweet wine that ended up being my favorite. I even ordered a second glass! We shared the cauliflower, beef ragu, and Bolognese — everything was so delicious and filling. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Came back for the second time today (December 4th and it’s still so delicious! My go to spot for pasta 😋) ended up ordering a whole bottle of the same wine as last time heehee pairs so well with all the food we had! The fried cauliflower is so addicting 🤤 if I could eat it everyday I would!! 10/10

We visited this cozy Italian restaurant for the first time and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was delicious, though slightly saltier than my personal preference, everything else was wonderfully flavorful. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place we’ll be returning to!

We came here for a party of four yesterday and I have to say it was some of the worst service I have received in Vancouver. The food itself was good, but the waitress that served us had an attitude problem the moment we came in. TLDR: service quality did not match the quality of the food.
We had let the hostess at the door know we wanted to celebrate a friends birthday and they mentioned they would put a note on our reso. I had followed up with the waitress to ask if that had been noted, and that we wanted to choose the dessert. She made a huge deal about how we asked for candles, even though we were just confirming they had them. She said “we all know you want candles! It’s noted several times, even the chef is asking do they want candles on their food too?.” I was completely shocked by her behavior. Is there anything wrong with confirming so that our friend gets a nice experience for his birthday? And also we hadn’t even chosen the dessert at that point, hence calling her over to finalize our choice.
Not only that but when the dessert came out she told the birthday boy that they usually only give one candle but they decided to give us three. It felt like she had blown the entire thing out of proportion and decided to be petty because we had asked for birthday candles, honestly laughable. I would never return here and would recommend you do not waste your time, energy, and money. I would rather eat at a family Italian restaurant that upholds the traditional standard of hospitality, and leaves everyone feeling welcome and taken care of.
Ask for Luigi is not a Vancouver restaurant you want to bring your family and friends to celebrate special moments.

I recently tasted their new chips I got at Costco and find that it’s too salty and does not taste like cheese at all. Boo :(

Some of the best pasta I've ever eaten. I had the Mafaldine (special) and it was absolutely sublime. The staff were extremely professional and the atmosphere was cozy too. There's often a long queue to get in so arrive early or make a reso if you want to get a seat. It's less busy at lunchtime from what I hear.

Our favourite Italian spot in Vancouver. Get the lamb ragu if you can, it’s phenomenal
Absolutely loved everything. You can taste the freshness in pasta and the flavors were out of the world. One of the best in Vancouver I must say!!

The pasta dishes couldn’t get more authentic than Ask For Luigi’s. Their staff were accommodating and cheerful, which made the restaurant’s quaint ambiance more cozy.

Ask for Luigi is a place I've genuinely trusted — which is why this recent visit was so unexpected and so disappointing. I’ve visited for years and have always had great experiences. I’ve recommended it to countless friends, even brought my team here to celebrate milestones.
Last night, it was my friend’s very first time at Ask for Luigi; I spoke highly of the restaurant while we walked over from a nearby event in the neighbourhood.
When we were served the wrong pasta — campanelle instead of pappardelle — we initially declined the replacement dish because we didn’t want to waste food. The server insisted, and while explaining the mix-up she mentioned a recent menu change in pasta shapes/sauces (1) and that she was feeling under the weather (2). We completely understood; mistakes happen, and we were happy to give her that grace as we still enjoyed the dish that was brought to our table.
When the pappardelle arrived, my first bite had a long brown hair woven through the pasta dough. Again, accidents happen, and I genuinely was not upset about the hair itself.
We weren’t planning to mention it, especially after the earlier mix-up (and the kind gesture), but near the end of the meal my friend gently brought it up, simply to make them aware. She has long black hair, so it clearly wasn’t hers, and neither of us were looking for any compensation.
The response, however, was unexpectedly defensive. The server asked, “Is that your hair?” and said, “It can’t be us, there’s no one in the kitchen with long hair,” despite multiple staff with long hair moving through the pass all evening. When we explained it was from my first bite, the server replied, “Well why did you wait until now? It could be yours since you’ve been sitting here all night.”
It felt unnecessarily accusatory, especially given that we were only trying to quietly notify them. Despite the hair, we had genuinely enjoyed the food — it was just unfortunate to end the evening on such a sour note.
I hope this was an isolated moment, and that future visits feel more in line with the care and hospitality I’ve always associated with Ask for Luigi.
TLDR; food was good, service was unusually disappointing
