Love it! Been to Vancouver quite a few times now and never thought of looking for Indonesian restaurants to try before, as we were always here just for a super short time

This time when we decided that we were gonna be here for at least 2 days, I Googled for Indonesian restaurants to check and found Bali Thai

Better go there yourself rather than Uber. Prices are doubled with Uber, not to mention tip and delivery charge as well. Crazy.

Bali Thai is located inside the food court of International Village near Chinatown.

I knew right away what I wanted to order as I had made a list for myself of what I wanted ????

They have siomay, pempek, soto Betawi, etc. Tasty indeed, and the various sambal were yummo as well. The owner is so friendly, she's originally from Jakarta ?

Will be back tomorrow for 2nd round ?

Totally recommending this place!

Their Rendang Beef with tumeric coconut rice is SUPERB!! I'm eating it right now. Mostly gone, so no photo. Sorry.
Their other items are good too. Prices are reasonable. Service is prompt and friendly. One feels like being nourished by the favourite sister/auntie.
Not much atmosphere to speak of, it's in a mall. But, clean.

Parking: 2 hour free parking in the mall.

Wheelchair accessibility: Elevators.

Great chicken noodle soup for a rainy day. I needed a quick comfort soup and came here for no frill lunch. Good portion. Good price. Very delicious noodle and meat. The soup was not too salty and just enough of brothy comforting flavour.

Auntie is very friendly and made me feel home.

Thank you for the great food!

Hard to find restaurant that is in a food court (2nd floor) in the International Village Mall. The service was good, the food was okay. My husband had the Laksa and he gave it an 8/10. The bathrooms were terrible and had roaches, so there is a possibility they are in other places. The entrance on W. Pender Street had a number of peeps smoking crack pipes outfront. ?

Auntie hooked me tf up. Got the create your own dish thingy with steamed rice, rendang, grilled chicken w/ chilli sauce and seasonal veg w/ mushrooms. Service was friendly and super welcoming.

Food was seasoned to perfection, beef and chicken both tender and succulent. The rendang had this perfect balance of sweetness and spice without being too rich. Veggies offered a great counter balance to the festival of flavour going on in my mouth Hell, even the rice and fried onions were top notch.

Pro tip: If you like ya shit spicy, ask for 911 spicy. Most places in Vancouver don’t cut it for me, but they definitely brought the heat (red paste on the left side of my plate).

Genuinely puzzled as to why I never came here sooner. So do yourself a favour and come through, it’ll change your bum life.

Tasty spot for a quick meal inside the international village mall food court. The large build your own plate was $14.99 for two proteins, rice and veggies. We tried the beef rendang, chicken and grilled eggplant with the yellow rice. On the greasy side but so tasty! The chili hot sauce is HOT!

Bali Thai is one of the few Indonesian spots in town. They’re in the International Village food court. It’s run by a friendly lady manning the front. Ask for the homemade green chilies and 99 spicy (good kick, not crazy hot).

- Bali iced latte ($7.50)
- Iga penyet ($15.99) - boneless beef ribs had a chewy bite. Sauce on the sweet side.
- Create your own ($14.99 large) - beef rendang was the best of the meats. Turmeric coconut rice was tasty. Lemongrass chicken curry lacked flavour. Eggplant was serviceable.
- Laksa ($15.99) - hard to find a good laksa. This was better than expected.
- Create your own ($14.99 large) - beef rendang, spicy Balinese chicken and yu choy with mushroom. Spicy chicken was tasty.
- Smashed chicken ($15.99) - chicken was tender. Tempeh bland, fried tofu better.

Will be back for more food court goodies.

Bali Thai is located in the International Village Food Court and it is amazing for its price point!

The auntie that runs the spot is incredibly enthusiastic and ran through the entire menu while also describing each dish in a concise manner.

My wife and I ordered the Build Your Own Plate (as recommended by auntie) with coconut rice, beef rendang, lemongrass chicken curry, and bok choi.

The rendang was tender and saucy with a good amount of spice. The curry was flavourful and the chicken was very moist. The rice was fluffy and a little creamy, perfectly contrasting the protein.

Overall a really good experience! I will definitely be going back if I’m ever in the area.
