I went back and discussed the different options with staff. They were really helpful and I decided to try the milk Earl Grey, it is delicious, best I've ever had. They wanted to do whatever they could to make it right. I will leave the original review below for context.

I just got the brown sugar winter melon tea with 50% ice and sugar. I've never had a more gross drink in my life, in the first sip I got a big bunch of crunchy sugar in my mouth and almost threw up ???. Honestly, still trying to get my appetite back. I lied and said that I liked it and gave it to my gf to try, also couldn't drink more than a few sips. We're both sitting here grossed out and with no appetite. Going to have to dump it out or something, the pearls were tasty so maybe I'll eat those.

I have no idea if it was made wrong or if I just don't like it. The colour was black like Pepsi. I normally like bubble tea and this place has such good reviews I might try again with something else. I'll try to remember to post an update if I do.

I got a milo brown sugar with milk. The drinks here are a bit more expensive than other places, but their brown sugar pearls are delicious! They’re perfectly chewy and actually taste like brown sugar. I drink a lot of bubble tea, and the pearls here really stood out to me.

Even thou the bubble teas were a bit expensive, they were very good ! And the lady was so nice to us.

It’s unfortunate we have no access to washrooms.

i went on a monday afternoon and ordered a taro milk tea. it came with a free topping! :) but the taro wasnt taro-ey enough undortunately. would love to have more chunks and larger pieces as opposed to just a mash!

I am a regular customer and we as a family basically have been coming here twice a week for more than a year. Nevertheless, I was super upset about their female staffs’ attitudes today.

It was a tall asian girl with black hair and a pony tail, she and her co-worker kept giving us weird look and when my family member went back to ask for a straw, they were probably talking about us and when they saw my family returned, they immediately stopped talking.

Those behaviors made us extremely uncomfortable and the way they were treating us since the first moment we stepped in were not ok, not their normal standard of service. ???

Their faces look relatively unfamiliar to us, perhaps they are new employees but definitely more training should be done so that they make the customers to feel welcomed and respected. ?

Small little bubble tea shop along broadway. The presentation of the lychee paradise drink was really pretty, I just wish it tasted more like lychee rather than lemon.

The bubble tea here is amazing. Pearls are cooked to perfection (almost always), excellent texture and good amount of sugar. The flavors are really cared for, specially the milk tea, it tastes very good. I have liked all the drinks I have tried (milk tea, fresh taro, thai style, milo milk, brown sugar milk). They have a good number of milk options, and of course they let you choose amount of sugar and ice (should be the standard by now).

Staff is friendly and helpful. The place is clean, comfortable, and nicely illuminated. If there is not a lot of people is quiet, but as it is small, it can get noisy if there are more than 4 people.

Vegetarian options: Everything is vegetarian.

Dietary restrictions: They have vegan milk alternatives.

I loved coming here. It is very clean and sanitary. There was a tall girl and shorter girl with darker hair and they were so nice and friendly when I came. I am a creature of habit and wasn’t sure what drink to get but they were so knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting me a new drink to try. I would recommend the fresh taro with oat milk. I’ve been coming here for a while and always receive impeccable service.

Baroness is great - I come here all the time! The bubble tea always tastes fresh, the pearls are always the right texture, and the employees are always friendly and nice. Plus, they have a discount for UBC students which is a HUGE plus!! I personally recommend the Thai style or anything from the brown sugar series, but their cheese foam is seriously the best in town. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order from here :)
