So sad you have closed. Bishop's was one of the best Vancouver restaurants. I wish I knew you were closing so I could go one last time. Thank you for the amazing food. Good bye

Above expectations! It is an experience of culinary art in every dish! And its a wine list that makes sense pairing wise for the dishes offered in the menu instead of being there just for the same of impressing the visitors.

The treatment by staff and service at Bishop’s was great from start to finish. There were tasty vegetarian and local cuisine options to choose from. Elegant yet cozy. Wonderful for special occasions!

Over the years the food at Bishops has evolved - shifted - changed with the seasons and years. As the result is always stellar - we are always coming back. Our recent visit with Crab and Sockeye Salmon Cake, Venison Striploin, Halibut Fillet was simply insanely great. Two tips - when they comment “we have a dessert special” - listen up! (Seriously) and a meal without Bishop’s Pomme Frites on the side is unthinkable The front of the room team remains consistently the best in town from the front door greeting to the staff to the supporting cast to John making a point of saying hello to every table. If you have not eaten at Bishops you have not eaten at a Vancouver legend. Giddy up!

One of the best restaurants I've eaten at in Vancouver. A classic dining experience, with great service and delicious food.

I love the dining experience here. Candle light dinner, great selection of wine, well manner Server and the best part, the lovely owner that greeted us at the door! Totally a unique experience.

On a home leave visit to Canada, we booked in advance to get a table on our second night, when our jet lag abated. What immediately strikes one is the attentive, friendly service, and knowledgeable advice about such things as how oaky the Chardonnay would be. Bishop’s is the kind of place where you try and work out the recipe. What are all the bits that I’m tasting? The dishes are simple but the use of ingredients is sophisticated and subtle. And with the pickled kohlrabi I actually asked how they did it and out pops the chef from the kitchen to discuss. He returned a few minutes later with a written-out recipe.

We wanted a nice place for dinner mid week and Bishop's pop-up on my search. I realized I haven't been there for a long time and we were so happy to have snatched up the only table at 7:30pm. I didn't expect the dining room to be this full but it certainly is a great sign it is still the place for fine food in the city. John was saying hello to patrons throughout the night and it was a very nice touch to have the owner pop his head at our table to wish us a great time and to enjoy our dinner. We started off with the crab and salmon cakes as appetizers and opened a bottle of 2016 Chianti for dinner. Our wine glasses were always filled in a timely manner and the same with our water. We didn't have to once ask and that is what sets this dining room apart, the high level of service and attention to details. My companion had the lamb done medium rare and enjoyed every bite of it. My halibut was satisfying, I wanted something meatier and since our server reminded me halibut season is coming to an end, it was not a difficult decision. Yes, I was torn between the fish or the duck (saving this for my next visit). In a nutshell, the food was delicious. We ended the evening with a cheese platter with crostini. Overall, the experience was beautiful. Noticed a couple dining nearby and as they were leaving, I paid her a compliment on her beautiful red coat and what a gentleman her husband was to help with her coat before they leave the table. Needless to say, they left even happier but this is what you will find at Bishop's. Romantic Dinners + Excellent Service and Amazing Food!

Bishop’s is the restaurant to celebrate special events in a romantic setting. The food was exquisite and beautifully plated. The service was impeccable with multiple staff ensuring our dining experience was perfect. The amuse bouche was a nice touch. The Dungeness Crab and Sockeye Salmon Cake was yummy as it was moist with forward crab and salmon taste. If you enjoy fish protein you won’t be disappointed with Pan Roasted Halibut Fillet. I enjoyed the pistachio sauce and spring vegetables with the halibut. Roasted Duck Breast was rich and decadent. We thoroughly enjoyed dining in at Bishop’s Restaurant.

It had been awhile since my last visit to Bishop’s. It remains a Vancouver icon. We had a wonderful evening, right from the owner’s greeting on arrival to the moment we departed. So friendly; such a nice calm and quiet atmosphere. Fantastic food too. We shared a couple of appys - oysters and salmon & crab cakes - followed by risotto and cannelloni mains. Delicious. The nice anniversary treat at the end was unexpected and just the right finisher. Here’s hoping that John and his staff keep going for many more years!

Love enjoying all the restaurants we have in Vancouver. Bishop's has been on my list for a while and glad we made it. An amuse bouche (croquette) compliments of the chef was a nice way to start our meal. We had their Dungeness crab and sockeye salmon cake with grilled asparagus and a lemon-basil mayo. Very nicely done and perfectly cooked & bursting with flavour. For the first main, we enjoyed their pan roasted halibut fillet with watercress, broccolini and pistachio sauce. Beautifully prepared and the sauce paired very well with halibut. I loved their roasted duck breast. A stunning dish and perfectly cooked with apples, carrots and pomme purée. A beautiful way to end the meal with their earl grey madelins, maple almonds and candied ginger. Their service throughout is excellent and made the experience so much better!
