My favorite fish cake! I finally bought them! I got 3 pounds! Love them! $12 per pound and cash only.
Delicious fish cakes sold at a no-frills place.
First day back to East Vancouver office for meeting , dropped in for quick late lunch at the Hoang Yen on Victoria Dr , it is my first visit since they move to new location across the road , lot spacious and 100% cleaner , in my opinion , this Pho place is overrated , they well know for their home made Fish Cake and the signature Crab Soup with vermicelli also I believe they are the first Vietnamese restaurant come up the idea , menu have a lot of selection , price reasonable , but I was disappointing to say my #13 , very oily , and the beef overdone and limited filling , broth lacking in beef flavor , but lot lot lot lot of MSG ! because the mouth so dried and thirsty all day service average , well maybe I am picky , I do not think I will coming back here soon , just too much oil and MSG , I ate out all the time , but I still have to watch what I eat ! so if you love Crab Soup , this is the place for you !
The owner is amazing. She helped me a lot, maybe first impression wasn’t great but she was super nice and helpful.
Pro Tip!Bring your own container! Your car will thank you. They will weigh the container before adding the fish cakes.Bring cash they are $12/lbMakes a nice and easy dinner. I usually reheat it in water till it's puffy (to remove some of the oils and reduce some of the salt) and then top it on top of noodle soup. Delicious ? You can also reheat by pan frying it but I find it makes it even more salty.
Squid cakes for the win! It's the same as the one they use for the reataurant Bun Cha Hong Yen~ make sure you bring cash! They also sell vietnamese ham, fish cake and fish paste
Best in Vancouver. Highly recommended
The bun Rieu, a crab soup with vermicelli is so packed with flavour and ingredients. Substantial portion, served very hot. Spring rolls were freshly wrapped and very tasty.
Out for Father’s Day. Decided to retry this restaurant after it moved over a few blocks to a bigger space. It was busy so had to line up over half an hour. We got deep fried chicken wings, bbq pork and shrimp noodle soup, fish cake noodle soup and beef skewer with taro spring rolls. Large portions but taste was not quite there. Fried chicken crispy and taro spring rolls tasty.
Very addicting freshly made fish cake $10/lb! I asked the guy before and he said they only sell fish cake.Don’t expect any service, just tell them how many lbs you want, pay, and leave. You might even left feeling sorry that you bothered them, but that’s part of the experience! ? They are worth it if you love Vietnamese fish cake.
Restaurantji Recommends
Went there and bought 10 pounds of fish cake and when I got home there were only 9 pounds but I had paid for 10 and she went to the back to go grab it and closed tied the bag up tightly so I wasn't able to count it, was very rude when I went in to buy fish cakes as well, would not recommend coming here you pay for more product than you get!!

Went there to buy fish cakes. Honestly the place look like a hole in the wall, and, the guy in the shop wasn't very friendly. I do feel a bit intimidated asking how much they sell the fish cake for. He gave me the impression that he doesn't care for my business. With that said though, I would go back. Their fish cake is freshly made. Was still warm when I bought them. I guess they know their product is good and people will go back regardless.
Don’t expect any service at all lol. It is a place where they don’t necessarily like to entertain us ‘small customers’ getting a pound or two but boi on boy the fish cakes are really good.
Best fish cake in town
