Went there lat Saturday, Feb 14, around 3pm. Stood awkwardly for a long time in front of the counter, looking at two busy baristas in an otherwise nearly empty café. None of them greeted or acknowledged me, when I finally said hi one of them grudgingly replied, full of resentment, and went back to her tasks. I ended up leaving. A truly awful ambience, discrepantly awful compared to the quaint exterior. I’m glad I left as the pastries looked not fresh and were few and far between. Avoid

Great location, cool building, nice combination of a café and a thrift shop… but we got a nice big chocolate chip cookie to go and it was COMPLETELY STALE. Must've been 2-3 days old.

I never write reviews but for this place I have to. It’s quite literally a tourist trap, the outside is super cute but like another review said, it was more like a hospital cafe. Whoever is running management now so genuinely does not have taste aligning with this cafe at all, it’s completely opposing to what it wants to be.
The drinks looked, and tasted cheap. The food was NOT good, the egg frittata was microwaved which made it soggy and gave it a plastic like bite, and the black bean brownie was crumbling due to how dry it was. Not to mention, the frittata came with chips and buttered toast (wonder bread) With no description of that on the menu
And on top of everything, our total was $32! Two Americanos, a small brownie and a frittata (no prices listed for the pastries) I go frequently to many cafes and this one is just wholesale items being sold through a nice building, no taste whatsoever in design (you can see what the counter looks like) or food.
Rude and Discriminatory Owner – Deeply Disappointing Experience
I am deeply disappointed by my last visit to Cittadella, a café I once loved. I am a university student, and on a quiet Monday morning, two friends and I came in to study. The café was almost empty when we arrived. We ordered coffees straight away, and about an hour and a half later we also ordered breakfast. We were, without question, paying customers.
Despite this, the owner treated us with outright disrespect. She approached our table while we were quietly working, hovered over us, and began challenging us, accusing us of not being customers even though both we and the staff confirmed that we were. She then criticised the table we were sitting at, saying it was “too central” and that we should have been in a corner, despite there being no other customers in the café at the time.
Her behaviour quickly escalated into hostility. She questioned why we were there, despite it being obvious that we were students studying, and claimed there was “no space for other customers” when the café was virtually empty apart from one other individual. We were made to feel unwelcome, targeted, and ultimately pushed out, as if she would rather have no customers at all than have us there.
What made this especially upsetting is that we had arrived already stressed, and the café had initially felt like a calm, welcoming place. That atmosphere was completely destroyed by this interaction. We left feeling disheartened and embarrassed, having done absolutely nothing wrong.
It is incredibly disappointing to feel that students — quiet, respectful, and paying customers — are not welcome here. A café should be a place of warmth and community, not hostility. Sadly, what was once my favourite café now feels completely ruined by this experience. I cant believe the world has come to such hostility and lack of care and compassion for one another, especially struggling students.

Ran in to grab some quick pastries, grabbed 2 pastries and it came up to $30... I asked to double-check if that was right. He said yes, so I paid... Thought it would be quick bc I had an appointment, but it took another 10+ mins to warm it up...

Interesting location! It’s a house that’s been converted into a coffee shop, with cozy and charming decor. Unfortunately, the food and beverages felt overpriced for the quality, and the service was not very welcoming. One of the staff members kept staring at me, which made the experience a bit uncomfortable.

Super cute little cafe that used to be a house once! It even has a vintage store inside. They provide 15% off for healthcare workers, which was nice to discover. The brownie was SO rich and tasty but definitely too much for two of us to eat lol.
Seating is pretty limited here and they close the upstairs portion quite early, so you may not get a seat during peak hours.

Curious shop with a heritage home feel and cool decor. Space is a little cramped while waiting for your drink to-go.

This place is like a tourist trap but for locals.
The food is quite overpriced and the savoury croissant I ordered was microwaved, making it a very mushy and greasy mess underneath. Once you step inside the really nice exterior of the cafe it feels more like a generic/hospital cafe. And who serves chips as part of a breakfast item? This plus a coffee and bun cost me $40.
Very underwhelming as the building itself is really neat and cozy, it's wasted on this cafe.
