The “big boned beef short rib” was insane. Best rib I’ve had - they said it is cooked over two days. Also got the (perfect) bread & butter, salmon tartare and the chili crisp chicken. Just all so tasty!

Had a lovely time for midweek dinner. Service was attentive and there was really lovely innovative twists of familiar foods.

Food: We ordered the shortrib poutine to start which comes with crispy potato balls and bonito flakes, it was so yummy and unique! The potatoes were nice and crispy and really elevated the dish! For mains we ordered the pork jowl don, aburi salmon don, Hennessy French toast and the lobster udon. The dons were a really good portion size and comes with a broth to pour in on the side so you can try it two ways. The Hennessy French toast was probably the best French toast I’ve ever had, the Kaya jam in the middle was such a nice touch. Lobster udon came with a whole lobster tail and was perfectly seasoned, needless to say we devoured it all! For dessert we got the white rabbit creme brulee and it was packed with white rabbit flavour!Service/atmosphere: Our server was super sweet and helpful and really took care of us the entire meal, she even gave us some white rabbit candies after we told her how much we enjoyed the dessert! The decor was super nice too, I especially liked the tables that had a see through portion filled with flowers!Would definitely come again!

A Culinary Gem in KitsilanoOur family recently enjoyed an exceptional dining experience at Don at Kitsilano. From start to finish, everything was impeccable. The open kitchen concept allowed us to witness the culinary magic firsthand, adding an extra layer of excitement to our meal. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing bold flavors and expert craftsmanship. It was evident that the chefs poured their hearts into every plate. Our waitress, Rosanna, provided attentive service with a genuine smile, enhancing our evening even further. We also had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, Victor, a passionate local young chef with a dream of blending Asian influences into his dishes.Vegetarian options are available, catering to all dietary preferences. In summary, Don at Kitsilano is a must-visit for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience. From the food to the service, it exceeded our expectations in every way.

From the decor, the hand-made reisin table, and the food, of course. It is not difficult to tell that the owner has a passion for his cooking and his business. It is a bit pricey, tho.

Wonderful, intimate restaurant with delicious food and gorgeous decor. I’ve been meaning to visit since they opened but somehow never made it in. Very glad I finally did! The aburi salmon belly don was fantastic as was the burnt pork jowl don. The tomato dashi added a lovely “comfort food” note. Enjoyed the roasted beet and feta salad as well. I’ve seldom seen the restaurant full when I’ve gone by, even though it’s quite small. If you’re considering it, do go. They’ve obviously put their heart and soul into it and deserve your business! Be sure to check out the stunning tables they handmade as well - each one is different and unique.

Had a lovely lunch here, delicious food and gorgeous interior! Highlights were definitely the short rib poutine and braised beef short rib. Also had the salmon tartare, pork jowl don, french toast, and mocktails - everything was very tasty and service was friendly and attentive, great spot to get some unique dishes while in the area

Had an outstanding dinner experience here. I was expecting some kind of asian fusion, but it was so much more. The dishes were inventive, but somehow accessible and comforting. The entrees looked good, but we wanted to try a variety of items and Dons Choice, the prix fixe option, was the perfect choice. The duck yolk garlic bread, cured salmon tartare, braised short ribs and the salmon aburi were flawless as were the little treats we were surprised with. Tristan, our server was knowledgeable, and made our experience noteworthy. The place is beautifully designed and decorated (by the staff, apparently.) It's intimate and welcoming. The open kitchen design makes it abundantly clear that this is a chef driven concept. The kitchen was clean and well organized and Victor, the chef, was a pleasure to watch work. We'll be back for dinner soon and are especially looking forward to trying their brunch.

Do not order the order Don’s Choice as a solo diner. Was served 5 of the 6 dishes and told that solo diners only receive 5 courses. Nothing on the menu about that. Was only offered a second dessert when they discovered the menu did say it was 6 courses.Service was deplorable. Was never asked about food allergies. Of the 5 dishes, only 2 were explained; the other 3 were just placed on the table. Had to look at their menu online to see what they were.1st course- Duck Yolk Garlic bread (half portion)2nd course- Cured Salmon Tartare3rd course- Mapo Tofu (half portion)4th course- Burnt Pork Jowl Don5th course- Not on menuDon’t see the value in this as a solo diner. Could have ordered two main courses and a full sized appetizer for the same price.

Came here on a random weeknight. Didn’t make reservations but was able to grab a table quickly. Cozy place with beautiful decor. We got the $60 4 courses prix fixe menu and an extra main to share. Not sure if my expectations were too high but I thought the meal was just okay. The taste wasn’t bad but it was just missing the wow factor that would make me want to come back for more.

My friends and I had a great dinner at Don at Kitsilano. We had the pre-fix dinner, so we had the chance to try many of the dishes. From congee with the perfect accompaniments to the lobster gyoza, every dish was a treat (and so were the leftovers the next day). The space is intimate and beautifully designed. They have a variety of table sizes and the overall feeling is of a garden setting.
