El Cartel Food Truck & Catering

I got me some Mexicali Chicken Street Tacos. I like how creative they are with the dishes they offer and I found the cheese they add interesting. However, the price for the quantity of the food is simply fair, if not a little bit pricey for the portion. Despite that, the food is very tasty and it was fresh. Other good point is that the service was quick.

Hired out the food truck for a private work event, food was amazing, and the event was very much a success. El Cartel is very professional and friendly to work with I would highly recommend.

not good, dry chicken, overpriced. Definitely do not recommend

Went there on sat .. I think they’re closed but it is inside ubc campus ..will go back again as it is 100%

My friend and I came here and both got the Mexicali chicken burritos. We both found them to be adequately spicy and seasoned, but they were dry and lacking freshness. We both felt an added salsa or pico sauce plus have been a nice addition. There were also French fries on them? When we asked the cashier what was on the burritos he said rice, your chosen protein, and coleslaw. Both very thrown by that. 4.5/10 overall.

2 stars for the such a less quantity for such a big price

Overall portions not bad, ratio of fries to meat is too high, meat is a bit overcooked and dry, fries are dry but a bit soggy too, could use a bit more sauce. Churros good, but definitely overpriced. Too salty as well.

Terrible burrito 🤮🤮🤮 Literally only rice like zero protein never get anything from here

Had very high hopes from this place. But had a whole hair in my burrito, not a small hair a whole hair deep inside my burrito. This is really unhygienic and unprofessional. Not sure if I can ever eat here again.

Their food is sooo good. I tried their Korean steak rice bowl and steak on fries. Best food place in UBC. And it’s halal

This new campus spot has taken over the space that previously was Flavour Lab and before that Iwana Taco. El Cartel was/is a food truck before moving into the Nest and this location is operated by those people, not the AMS.
The veggie rice bowl was delicious. They know what they're doing with seasoning in there - everything from the fried cauliflower to the beans to the rice was robustly seasoned. Really enjoyable. It was a big portion and I thought I would end up not finishing some of the rice but ended up getting pretty close because it was almost too good to stop eating. The horchata was also good. The prices are very reasonable for the big portions.
The guy who took my order was super nice, and my order was ready pretty quickly. Great addition to campus.
