We live in the neighborhood and have dined at Giardino many times. The careless and reckless valet who turns onto Hornby from Pacific on red lights is a nightmare. I guess he probably didn't clue in that the "green bike" light is only for bicycles NOT CARS. There has been a change in the rules at this intersection due to a cyclist death and I fear that this 25 year Giardino employee (if he doesn't smarten up) will be the next driver to seriously injure a pedestrian or cyclist!! I doubt I will return to Giardino as this person is very aggressive, confrontational and belligerent - definitely left a bad 'taste' in the mouth.

This is the best upscale food I have had in Vancouver by consistent quality and taste. It's about twice the price of most restaurants I usually go to but four times as good - so worth the splurges for special occasions.Last time I was there I told my server I was craving bolognaise and before I had a chance to ask what would be a good alternative she told me "oh, we have spaghettini bolognaise and it's really good. I can get you that." It was perfect ?.Everything else I have ever tried there has been phenomenal. There are many seafood options as well as larger meat dishes and many pasta choices. The desserts are phenomenal - also twice the price but four times as good.The back patio is gorgeous summer, spring, and fall. The inside is upscale beautiful with every touch attended to.There is a back bar overviewing the kitchen. While most of the staff looked a relaxed, happy, professional vibe and smiled and acknowledged me while beautifully preparing the dishes - they did apologize a bit for the bonus heated kitchen show-style exchange that was on for a bit. Dinner and a show for those who like that kind of thing? ?♀️ I didn't mind too much and it wouldn't have affected my conversation if I was dining with more folks. I love the open kitchen view and would potentially sit there again.

The environment is really good, and the staff are friendly too. Food didn't impress me much though. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered steak in an Italian restaurant, it's slightly overcooked. And I'm not a big fan of the lobster bisque. Excellent food and service from Ryan. Great ambience. A very enjoyable dinning experience. The calamari is light and crispy. Lightly salted. The rack of lamb cooks perfectly. The ossobuco and the bone marrow is rich and tender. Slightly on the salty side to my liking. The cappuccino is delicious. Overall we are impressed and delighted to find another good restaurant that worth revisiting. They acknowledge the booking was for a birthday celebration at the front desk however there are no special celebrations or anything offered by the restaurant so I’m not sure the purpose of asking when I made reservation.

A Valet guy on Jan 26, 2024 tried to harass me and argue with me for using the passenger zone street parking on Hornby that they try to reserve for valet.The spots you have your signs posted at for valet are public street parking, the business doesn't own them. The valet employees don't have authority to tell people if they can park there or not. If anyone encounters this issue please ensure you report them to the city for tampering with public use of public roads.Poor representation of the business.
