This restaurant is tucked in the middle of an industrial area so it's quite hidden, but the food is delicious! Classic HK style breakfast, creamy scrambled eggs and best of all a crispy shell pineapple bun that's soft on the inside. No need to go to Richmond anymore for Lido, this restaurant kills the pineapple bun with butter!

Finally had to time to come to the highly anticipated Ho Yuen Cafe opened in south Vancouver, my hood! I have to say we will come back to give it another try as the bbq noodle soup needed more flavour. My hubby also said the braised beef was bland. However the pineapple bun with salted butter is the star! It was warm and fresh, the way it should be. We came early when they opened so we didn't need to wait for a table. After we were done there were about 10 people waiting outside. The restaurant is quite small but the table distance is good for staff to move around.

Tried their pineapple bun and HK milk tea for takeaway and had it in my car right away:- Felt like watered-down milk tea, either tea base was too diluted, or not made long enough.- Pineapple bun was average, slightly on the dryer side. These were two items and it was about 10:30am on a weekday. Still had to wait 15mins, didn’t seem like the staffs cared. There was a wave of Facebook posts a while back when they just opened. Many said their food was excellent, but recently I’ve started to see people commenting their poor experience here… Milk tea is like the soul and essence of a Hong Kong cafe, if their milk tea is not good then the place is no good. The location is also quite inconvenient, I believe there’s many better options around Vancouver and certainly in Richmond.

This place took me back to HK. I’d recommend the ginger beef noodle soup! Add some soy sauce and chilli sauce to make it extra flavourful. That’s how I always get it. Very satisfying!

The food was not good except for the pineapple bun which was okay. The service was ridiculously bad...the waiter kept showing off.

The server wearing glasses was very very rude, she was unwilling to give out extra utensils for our take out order for no reason, after we distinctly told her we had more than 5 people sharing the order. When we kindly asked again to have two more utensils ( she only gave us one pack the first time), she turned back without saying a word, not even nodding or anything, which was very rude and make us very uncomfortable, she returned with one more pack of utensils, which was not what we asked for. From beginning to end she did not explain why she was so unhappy to give us take out utensils, when we were paying the bill the owner told us the pineapple bun does need utensils. We find this reason to be unacceptable and ridiculous, why would they decide for us how to eat our food? No apologies were given at any point for the rude treatment as well.

I liked the cha siu rice and pineapple bun. I think if the cha siu was slightly fatter would have been softer. The scrambled egg was overcooked. Pineapple bun was nice and soft. Staff are very friendly. Storefront is nice and clean. There are street parking and visitors parking available. Will return with my mom, so that she can try the pork chop sandwich (which I didn’t order this time).

I highly recommend this restaurant. The price is reasonable and cost-effective. The service is great. The food is delicious, especially the egg tarts and salted egg yolk chicken wings. They are very good.

The IG “influencers all have to say good things about every restaurant they post about, but this one was truly mediocre. The BBQ pork was pan fried before serving so it was dry and chewy (you can see one piece in the bowl that was given to me), the pineapple bun was too thick so the topping to bread ratio was way off, and the scrambled eggs were plain (perhaps this was my own fault for not adding salt, pepper nor ketchup though). The HK milk tea was good, and the staff were nice. I would love to support them because they seem like nice people, but I just can’t because of the food.

Food wasn't bad, but rude staff, small portions and overpriced food makes it a dealbreaker.

Hong Kong-style milk tea restaurant, you have to queue up at noon on leisure days. In fact, the location of the restaurant is a bit remote, and there are not many restaurant locations, but the atmosphere is still good. The service attitude of the restaurant is good, and there are not many good menu choices. They mainly eat regular meals and breakfast, hot The milk tea is really good.
