Had a great experience at Hoa Phuong Do! The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. Tuan, the owner, was really welcoming and gave us some great recommendations that did not disappoint. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Vancouver and want authentic Northern Vietnamese done right.

Delicious authentic Vietnamese food. It was raining hella hard in vancouver ( no surprise) and needed some good pho to warm up my cold soul. The service was amazing too, the owner was super friendly. Lovely restaurant

The first time I saw a restaurant selling crab noodle soup with a flavor very similar to Hai Phong dish in Vietnam, rich in spices and delicious. The owner is very enthusiastic and attentive. Next time I come to Vancouver, I will come back to this restaurant.

One of the only Northern Vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood. When you walk in, you feel like you've been transported to another place. There is a lot of variety and the food is made with care. Don't limit yourself to the regular menu check out these specials on the whiteboard as well!

There is no excuse for serving such bad quality Vietnamese food in this area. I am amazed they are still operating.
We ordered two dishes - the crab soup noodles and the beef shortribs, as suggested by the waiter. The crab soup was just sad. It was too sweet, lacking in flavour, and the fishcakes were flat and dense. There are several other places in the area serving this dish and every one of them does it much, much better.
The beef shortribs were absolutely appalling. They were served on a hotplate, but it wasn't hot. They had obviously been sitting in a vat of marinade for quite some time and they arrived undercooked, pale and tasting of undercooked marinade and beef on the verge of going bad. If they had been seared for a minute, or if they had even bothered to heat the hotplate, they might have been edible, but they were tough, fatty, undercooked and basically inedible.
There are so many top class Vietnamese restaurants along this stretch of Victoria, and I would recommend any of them above this place. It was by far the worst Vietnamese food I have ever eaten in Vancouver.

An out of town visitor requested Vietnamese food for lunch, so I searched for a spot I hadn’t tried before and was pleasantly impressed by this one. I ordered the crab noodle soup, which came with an aromatic and flavorful broth. The sweetness of the crab, imported from Vietnam, added finesse to the overall taste. The dish was also topped with nicely fried fish cake, making it a satisfying and filling lunch.
I couldn’t resist trying the grilled quail and was glad I did. It was tender, well charred, and paired with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce that tied it all together. The crab spring roll from the specials menu was a surprise. It came in a square crunchy wrapper filled with pork infused with crab, and it was absolutely delicious.
This place specializes in Northern Vietnamese cuisine and I’m definitely coming back to explore more of their menu.
Excellent.

We went to this small Vietnamese restaurant to do a review. The restaurant has few tables. We went at a time when the other restaurants were already closing. We were served very well. The waiter explained the dishes to us and gave us recommendations. Their menu is very varied with many combinations. The food came quickly and the seasoning is very strong and distinctive. If you are not used to it, be careful. In general, maybe because it was late, we overdid it a bit. It is something similar to Thai, Chinese and Japanese, the difference is the broth and the options. The place is small and cramped. Go try it and make your own opinion.
