It was my first time experiencing this restaurant and it was delightful. The service was truly exceptional, and the ambiance was pleasant with an African-inspired theme. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. I particularly enjoyed the grilled dishes.

Everything was amazing - the food and the service! We had Kuku Paka which was an absolute 10/10It was quite warm in there when we visited, so I likely wouldn't come again on a warm/hotter day, but I would definitely get take out!

I ordered their tandoori chicken, butter chicken, vegetable pakora, appy lunch combo, and Mombasa ice tea. Portions are fantastic, flavours are great. I ordered during their buy 1 get 1 deal which makes everything an even better deal!! You must try!

I ordered a thali with lamb curry and eggplant curry. The eggplant curry was good but the lamb curry was just so so. However the portion size is very good. The garlic naan was good. I also tried their mango smoothie, which is very delicious. The interior is very exotic and I liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. One of the servers did not understand my question when I asked about the ingredients of the soup, but he asked another server who answered my question.

Crappy Indian food, well marketed by appropriating the idea of African atmosphere to get clueless customers through the door. Small portions, still nobody at our table could manage to finish. The worst had to be the tiny reheated Costco Samosas, old canned corn smothered in Frank’s red hot, anything fried (all oily and burnt, hard and over cooked or raw inside), over salted meat, and the “garlic” naan with raw, dry Costco Johnny’s seasoning rather than fresh garlic/butter. Barf! Not to mention that every sauce tasted store bought, and the sweet/sour tamarind on the table had gone rancid. If you have any sense of taste, dignity, or a shred of culture, avoid eating here.

Heads up: this isn’t an Ugandan restaurant; it’s an Indian restaurant. A bad Indian restaurant. Anything fried was over cooked and extremely oily, portions were incredibly small for the price, “beef” kebabs had no beef (just more over-fried dough), and the “jambo style flatbread” was straight up a tiny butter chicken pizza. We paid extra for garlic naan, but they just put raw Costco garlic powder on some undercooked naan bread. Genuinely a disappointing experience.

I am never disappointed with Jambo Grill. When we visited last, it was quite empty but soon after the place was packed by the time we left around 7:30. The service here is excellent. The servers are very polite, kind and gentle; very well mannered and will go the extra mile to make you happy. Their food is fresh and tasty. Never disappointed. The place itself is decorated with African decor, proverbs, and I wish I took photos of the washrooms too! Their chai is very good. They sell their own blend of masala chai you can buy. I thought it was expensive at first but if you go out and buy all those spices you will soon see that their price is very reasonable. In fact prices are all reasonable and you get a good bit of food for the price. I always take my friends here for a different experience.Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: They accommodate allergies but I’d ask ahead still.Parking: I used to look for free parking on the side street which was a pain but now I park on Kingsway and usually get a spot right in front the restaurant. It’s really inexpensive to park here.Kid-friendliness: Great for kids. Nice but casual enough that a bit of noise is ok and there is a kids menu.
