Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House

The service was beyond perfect – courteous, attentive, friendly, and fast! We had oysters, the seafood linguine, and mussels. Everything tasted absolutely amazing.
I found a small piece of paper in my dish – nothing major, I just mentioned it politely. These things can happen. Shortly after, the head chef came out personally to apologize. We were given a crème brûlée on the house, and later we noticed that my dish wasn’t even charged on the bill.
Wow – we hadn’t expected that at all, and it really highlights the outstanding level of service here!

We’ve been trying to get to this restaurant since probably 10+ years now something always came up when we went to try to go to it. I guess it was a sign restaurant was extremely busy which is a good thing. Restaurant was very very, very dirty our table, sitting by the stairs, had used to picks on the floor and on the table we ordered espresso martinis. There was probably a 4 inch hair for some reason wrapped around the glass wife ordered the lobster which was a disaster ended up getting food poisoning. I ordered the New York steak. I was better off to take my shoe off and eat that instead it was absolutely tasteless. Dry I left the entire steak on the table. Service was decent for being such a very busy restaurant, but they definitely need to clean the entire restaurant how dirty it is glass dividers are disgusting. The tables are dirty. Silverware was dirty and the food was pretty gross. Obviously, wouldn’t be attending back here.

Perfect for happy hour with cheaper oysters, but nothing to write home about.

We had waited a long time to dine here.
We were celebrating our daughter 's birthday and she had chosen this restaurant.
We had heard great reviews of the place.
Our server Brooklyn was absolutely amazing. She was professional, knowledgeable and very personable.
The ambience was amazing ?
The food however was a big letdown.
The beef tartar had not beef taste and was mixed with some kind of a mayo.
The calamari was more doughy and not crispy.
The cioppino broth was tomato based and tasted like a tomato seafood soup. It was not very palatable
The Seafood pasta was bland and tasted only of plain whipping cream.
The Sable fish was very good but the kale and mushroom were in big chunks not chopped up.
The biggest let down was the chocolate cake. It looked beautiful but tasted like a dry cake with whipped buttercream icing.
We expected a chocolate ganache at the least.
The oysters and mussels were great.
The fried oysters were exquisite ?
We had great expectations but our experience with the food was a big letdown.

Every food was nice and live piano music was fantastic.
The server was so kind and she gave me a mini cake for celebration. Thanks to her.
Even though the wrong side salad was served, cause i ordered side salad as caesar. But balsamic salad was also great

Good food but pricey

Service was good, food was good, unfortunately we saw multiple mice running around us. Not good, they have to clean this up and should be reported to health. They blamed city for not being able to use poison.

Came here for happy hour. Seafood was fresh and delicious, prices for downtown was reasonable. Can’t wait to come back in the summer for the patio #contestentry
