I have to say. It is quite hard to beat their $14 Unagi bento box, especially on a hustling street like main.
The sushi tasted great, even if it's a simple California roll.
I enjoyed each bite of the bento box. They serve 4pc tempura instead of 2pc that you would typically get at other Japanese places.
The environment is nice, the interior really captures that Japanese izakaya feel.
Service was friendly, fast, and efficient.
I love that they offer you free dessert after your meal. Most places will not have that.
Overall, my experience here has been excellent. I will come back again!

📍 Kaori Izakaya (Sushi & Grill) – A Perfect Late-Night Sushi Spot!
Last night around 11 PM, we were seriously craving sushi — and as you might guess, not many places are open that late. Luckily, Kaori Izakaya was open, and honestly, it turned out to be such a great choice!
🔸 The ambiance is cozy and beautifully designed with a warm Japanese vibe — perfect for a relaxed late-night meal.
🔸 The menu is impressive and full of tempting options. We tried a few different rolls, and each one was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
🔸 The service was truly lovely! Our server Ryoko was kind, polite, and welcoming — her warm energy made our visit even more enjoyable.
🔸 And a small but important detail: the washroom was spotless! Clean facilities always show how much care a place puts into every aspect of their business.
🔸 And the sweetest touch? They surprised us with complimentary ice cream at the end of our meal! Such a kind and thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more memorable.
Overall, I highly recommend Kaori Izakaya if you’re looking for a late-night Japanese food spot with high-quality sushi, great service, and a calm atmosphere.
Whether you’re a sushi lover or just looking for somewhere relaxing and delicious at night, this place is definitely worth checking out! 🍣✨🍨
Food was pretty good. Service was friendly. Sapporo special was great as I did notice alot of people there enjoying it.
Lowkey spot with great food and good prices. Great attentive service!
Nigiri was fine compared to the price. However having the chicken here was totally like chewing gum lol
I really like this place, It would be great to come back here with a bunch of friends for happy hour!
It was just an ok experience. The sashimi was not fresh, the hokkigai was black, the tuna was breaking apart; we ordered the Alaska roll and unagi roll, the portion was so much smaller than other restaurants (regularly come out like around 8 - 9 pieces/roll, but here only 6 pieces and the rolls are breaking apart). The house seafood salad was ok. The only good one was the aburi salmon oshi sushi, which was very good, melting in the mouth right away.
The overall quality was rather average, definitely not the place for sashimi. The serving speed was very very slow.
one of my regular spots now. fantastic value, delicious food, nice vibes. sometimes the service struggles with a big crowd but very understandable. can be a lil noisy but again usually only on busy bar nights. overall a true gem.
I love this place!
Caring customer service and they don’t charge tip for to go meal
The best place

I was very interested given the amount of good reviews, so we gave it a shot. Figured that coming in at lunch time would be best especially right when they open as food would be fresh and with no rush means quality would be better. So we ordered a Chicken Karaage which was very oily, although seasoned decently. Scallop Motoyaki was not fresh at all but satisfactory. Salmon Aburi was more on the fusion side, not what I was expecting and didn't need some teriyaki glaze in my opinion. There was deep fried sushi roll, way too overcooked and made the rice like mochi and became sticky and unpleasant to eat. Service was decent, maybe server needs more training and checking up on customers once in awhile given the place wasn't busy at all.
This is not to humiliate the restaurant, but to hopefully improve their quality. The ambiance of the place was great and very accessible especially for public transpo. We wish you guys all the best, and will try again when we have time, thank you!
Our favorite sushi!
Had an excellent experience, except parking was difficult in Vancouver on a Monday night.
Had dinner here and ordered agedashi tofu, grilled salmon belly, chikuwa cheese, miso saba shiyoyaki, saba oshi sushi, salmon sashimi, and sapporo beer. Paid a total of $85 for two persons witn tip.
Service was fast and pleasant. Nice ambiance. Clean washrooms.
Everything was good and not overpriced. Prices were similar to a neighborhood Japanese restaurant.
Will definitely visit again.
Happy to see the Salmon Toro option, many of other restaurants I have visited don’t offer this part separately. The portion of Oden combo is bigger than I thought. The free ice cream was a surprise. Overall excellent experience!
I visited on a Saturday night and was truly impressed by the outstanding service, great prices, and quick food turnaround! The food was incredibly fresh and of excellent quality, all at a very reasonable price. I'll definitely be coming back!
